\u0130stanbul’s Esenyurt district mayor has been remanded in custody on charges of “being a PKK member.” He has been replaced by a government appointed trustee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Justice Y\u0131lmaz Tun\u00e7 made a statement regarding the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah \u00d6calan and said that “new meetings will be evaluated according to the demands”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party’s demand for the creation of Kurdish interpreter staff in the Parliament was rejected with AKP and MHP votes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sabahat \u00c7etinkaya, former co-mayor of Derik district of Mardin, was detained and arrested at the health centre where she went for treatment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0130stanbul\u2019s 35th Penal Court of First Instance has dismissed a 50,000 lira defamation lawsuit filed by journalist \u015eirin Payz\u0131n against the right-wing Victory Party leader \u00dcmit \u00d6zda\u011f.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CHP mayor of Istanbul’s Esenyurt district, Prof. Dr Ahmet \u00d6zer, was arrested at the same time as at least 13 other people on the charge of “membership of a terrorist organisation”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bak\u0131rhan announced that they have held talks with the Justice Ministry regarding the prison conditions of Kurdish Political Leader Abdullah \u00d6calan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abd\u00fclkerim \u00dczen, Welat Karag\u00f6z, Renas Duymak and an unidentified person were detained in house raids in  \u015eirnak’s Cizre district.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responding to MHP leader Bah\u00e7eli’s claims that a Kurdish issue “did not exist,” CHP chair \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel warned that such denial would set back Turkey half a century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even in intensive care, the seriously ill political prisoner Abdurrahman Gemicio\u011flu is handcuffed. His daughter Elif Gemicio\u011flu calls on the public and the authorities to take action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a written statement made for the 101st anniversary of the foundation of the republic, MHP chair Devlet Bah\u00e7eli said, \u201cThe Republic of Turkey does not and will never have a Kurdish problem. The Republic of Turkey does not have an ethnic or sectarian dilemma.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Erdo\u011fan, state officials and other leaders attended the traditional ceremony at Atat\u00fcrk\u2019s mausoleum and various events were held across the country to mark the 101st anniversary of the foundation of the Republic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the military operation in Mardin’s Nusaybin district ended, military activities in the region continued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israel’s decision to ban the U.N. relief agency UNRWA from operating inside of the country is a clear violation of international law, Turkey’s foreign ministry said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nineteen people, including a lawyer who was detained directly after a court hearing, were arrested in \u0130stanbul today on charges of “membership in a terrorist organization.” Nineteen other suspects were released on judicial control measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The assets of the Islamic cult led by Adnan Oktar, thought to be at least two billion liras, were transferred to the state. He was sentenced to a total of 8,658 years in prison on charges of \u201cleadership of a criminal organization,\u201d \u201csexual abuse and assault,\u201d \u201cinterruption of the right to education,\u201d and \u201cdeprivation of liberty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Putin stated in an interview that his Turkish counterpart Erdogan had suggested reestablishing communications regarding shipping in the Black Sea, but he has not yet had the opportunity to review the relevant documents he gave during the BRIC summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdurrahman Gemicio\u011flu, who was arrested because his sentence was approved although he was ill, was taken to intensive care unit for treatment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A court sentenced 16 members of the Religious Scholars Solidarity Association (D\u0130AYDER) to prison in a case launched for delivering sermons and preaching in Kurdish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The People’s Defence Centre claimed responsibility for the attack in Ankara emphasizing that it has nothing to do with the political agenda discussed in Turkey in the last month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Defense Ministry announced that it struck 29 targets in Syria and Iraq, killing 59 people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AKP and ally MHP have rejected a parliamentary motion submitted by the CHP to investigate the Oct. 23 attack at Turkish Aerospace Industries in Ankara in \u201call its aspects.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey launched airstrikes on Northern and Eastern Syrian cities following the Ankara attack. In the attacks, 12 people lost their lives and dozens of people were injured. Airstrike were also launched on \u015eengal and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lawyers from the Asr\u0131n Law Office have made a new application for a meeting with their client Abdullah \u00d6calan. The application came after DEM MP \u00d6mer \u00d6calan visited the island after more then three years of total isolation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing attention to PKK Leader Abdullah \u00d6calan’s statement, DEM Party Spokesperson Ay\u015feg\u00fcl Do\u011fan asked whether the state is ready to create the legal and political grounds for the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Parliament\u2019s general assembly approved a motion to extend the Turkish Armed Forces’ (TSK) mandate in Lebanon for one more year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An explosion occurred in front of the facilities of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSA\u015e) headquarters in Ankara. The explosion was followed by gunfire. Officials have confirmed fatalities and injuries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least 4 people were detained in house raids in Bitlis’s Tatvan district in the morning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release of 15 women prisoners in Bak\u0131rk\u00f6y Women’s Prison has been extended by 1 year each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prisoner \u0130smet Karak described the practices in Sincan High Security Prison No. 2 and said: \u201cWe are being forced to say, ‘Either compromise your political identity and honor, or lose your basic human rights!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The court in Istanbul announced its decision in the 17th trial hearing where journalist Hayko Ba\u011fdat was charged with “insulting the president”. The case was dismissed due to the statute of limitations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MHP chair Devlet Bah\u00e7eli suggested that in exchange for lifting the solitarity confinement of PKK Leader Abdullah \u00d6calan, he should speak in the parliament to declare that \u201cterrorism has come to an end and that the #PKK has been disbanded.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Erdo\u011fan called for the support of all political parties, civil society and the entire public for the new process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prisoners in prisons in Adana stated that they have not been able to access their right to health due to mouth searches and handcuffed examinations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the curfew imposed in rural neighborhoods of Mardin, house raids were conducted. It is learned that 3 people have been detained so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An insurance scam investigation initiated by a 2023-dated denouncation has been stirring Turkey. Accordingly, the organization led to the death of hundreds of babies to defraud the insurance system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aksaray Type T Closed Prison Administration and Observation Board extended the release of 30-year prisoner Tamer Tanr\u0131kulu for another 6 months despite the decision of the execution judge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presidential advisor Mehmet U\u00e7um and AKP Deputy Chair Efkan Ala denied that they were seeking a new peace process regarding the Kurdish issue. \u201cThe state doesn\u2019t try again methods that it has tried and failed to achieve results, (but) finds other effective methods,\u201d U\u00e7um noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third hearing of the lawsuit filed by Tuncay \u00d6zdamar, WDR Cosmo Turkish Director, against the Treasury for compensation for his detention at Ankara Esenbo\u011fa Airport and 14 hours in custody, was held in Istanbul. The court ruled that \u00d6zdamar be paid 380 TL 7 kurus and 1000 TL non-pecuniary damages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clashes erupted yesterday in northern Syria between rival Turkish-backed armed groups, resulting in a fire near Turkey\u2019s Kilis province after a rocket hit the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

76-year-old DEM politician S\u00fcleyman Bozkurt has been arrested for unknown reasons at his home in Malatya. During raids in Diyarbak\u0131r, 15 people were taken into custody for alleged “terror propaganda”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kurdistan Region President Barzani will meet with Turkish President Erdo\u011fan in Ankara during an official visit as part of the steps taken towards to strengthen bilateral relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dead body of 21-year-old Rojin Kabai\u015f has been discovered along the coast of Van Lake, 18 days after going missing after leaving her university dorm. Experts note that the woman couldn’t have traveled to the discovery site on foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A group of fascist national students tried to attack and batter Ko\u00e7 University students who were protesting recent femicides in Turkey. The group started attacking over the banners of \u201cJin, Jiyan, Azadi\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 260 people have been arrested in nationwide raids in connection with the rally in Diyarbak\u0131r. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soldiers attacked the “No to war, peace now” demonstration in \u015e\u0131rnak’s Silopi district and detained 3 journalists and many Peace Mothers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Devlet Bah\u00e7eli called on Abdullah \u00d6calan, who has not been heard from for 43 months, to \u201cliquidate the organization\u201d and said: \u201cNo one should expect the state to sit at the table with terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4 people were detained in police raids in Ad\u0131yaman’s Kahta district, including DEM Party co-chair Sait Dilek. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human Rights Association’s Commission against Racism and Discrimination filed a criminal complaint against BBP Chairman and MP Mustafa Destici. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journalist Pinar Gayip was detained during providing her statement regarding the complaint by a lawyer who was convicted of sexual assault. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first hearing of the lawsuit filed against forensic medicine specialist Prof. Dr. \u015eebnem Korur Fincanc\u0131 due to her comments on the photographs of Orhan \u0130nand\u0131, an educator who was abducted from Kyrgyzstan and brought to Turkey last year by an MIT operation was held in Istanbul. The court decided Fincanc\u0131 will be forced to attend the next hearing. Trial adjourned until January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a double femicide in Istanbul, women took to the streets in many places in Turkey to demand protection from violence and the right to self-determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elif Gemicio\u011flu, the daughter of Abdurrahman Gemicio\u011flu, who was sent to prison before his cancer treatment was completed, stated that her father was kept in the infirmary due to the risk of death and should be released. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The house arrest order against journalists Delal Aky\u00fcz, Tolga G\u00fcney and Melike Ayd\u0131n has not been lifted for 8 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Energy Ministry announced that a Turkish seismic research vessel is set to arrive off the coast of Somalia by the end of October to begin exploring for oil and natural gas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following AKP President Erdo\u011fan’s statement “Turkey is the next target”, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmu\u015f announced that Parliament will convene on 8 October. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 67-year-old Kurd Abdurrahman Gemicio\u011flu has been sentenced to a long prison sentence and taken to prison in an ambulance. He suffers from bowel cancer and is bedridden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation by the Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office into the ISIS attack on Santa Maria Church, which resulted in one death, has been concluded. The court accepted the indictment against 43 suspects who face prison sentences ranging from 7 to 349 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two people were killed in a Turkish drone attack on a car in Am\u00fbd\u00ea in Northern Syria on Thursday evening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Turkish parliament, a motion by the DEM party in favour of a committee of enquiry into the murder of eight-year-old Narin G\u00fcran has been rejected with the votes of the AKP and MHP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charges have been brought against JinNews correspondent Melek Avc\u0131 by Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office due to the journalist’s reports on IS training camps in the Turkish border region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proceedings were initiated against six village guards who refused to be sent to the war in South Kurdistan. They were threatened and their weapons were confiscated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a press conference at the Council of Europe, lawyer Ibrahim Bilmez spoke about the situation of political prisoners in Turkey and the unlawful incommunicado detention of his clients in Imrali Island Prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tensions were apparent at the opening ceremony of the Parliament, as the DEM Party MPs protested President Erdo\u011fan by not standing up as he took the rostrum, and CHP MPs opted out of clapping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHP leader \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel said during an interview that he expects the appeal court to impose a political ban on Istanbul Mayor Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu in the ongoing trial process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party Mu\u015f MPs S\u00fcmeyye Boz \u00c7ak\u0131 and Sezai Temelli demanded the establishment of a parliamentary commission to reveal the perpetrators of the Vartinis Massacre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdulkadir Kuday, a prisoner with ALS who was prevented from being released despite his severe health problems, died in Metris Type R Closed Prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former HDP Co-Chair Figen Y\u00fcksekda\u011f was acquitted in the lawsuit filed against her for her speech calling for the freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah \u00d6calan.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Foreign Ministry announced that Turkey is prepared to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon by air and sea if necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a reception held for the opening of the new legislative term, MHP chair Bah\u00e7eli told CHP leader \u00d6zel, “Don’t worry, sometimes we have to say these for sake of politics” for his threats against the opposition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first hearing of the case in which Contemporary Lawyers’ Association member Seda \u015earald\u0131 is being tried on charges of “membership in a terrorist organization” was held in Istanbul. The court ruled to continue the detention of the lawyer. Trial adjourned until December. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
