Diyarbak\u0131r Bar Association Secretary General Baver M\u0131zrak stated that the most urgent task in the process is the integration law, and that the commission they established will carry out legal work under 11 specific headings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHP Diyarbak\u0131r MP Sezgin Tanr\u0131kulu visited Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu and Adana Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar, who are detained in Silivri. Tanr\u0131kulu made a statement after the visit: \u2018Silivri Prison has now turned into a concentration camp.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing attention to Serkan Onur Y\u0131lmaz’s 351-day hunger strike, the Contemporary Lawyers Association demanded the closure of dungeon-like prisons and the transfer of prisoners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hasan Tokg\u00f6z, District Police Chief in Mudurnu, Bolu, who had been in post for approximately two months, was arrested on charges of assaulting his wife. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kurdistan Freedom Movement held a press conference today in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and announced the withdrawal of its armed forces from Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting between the Imrali Delegation and President Erdo\u011fan has been postponed until 30 October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the withdrawal announcement, AKP Spokesperson \u00d6mer \u00c7elik stated \u2018As the process continues, the positive framework to be outlined by the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission will become clearer.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu, \u0130mamo\u011flu’s former adviser Necati \u00d6zkan, and TELE1 Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanarda\u011f were requested to be arrested on charges of \u2018political espionage\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erdal Kuzu, the lawyer representing Ahmet T\u00fcrk, who was acquitted in the case that led to the appointment of a trustee, pointed to the Administrative Court and said, \u2018We are now awaiting their decision.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with Abdullah \u00d6calan’s call and the decisions taken at the 12th Congress, it was announced that the PKK will take a new historic step tomorrow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Turkish soldiers opened fire on young people attempting to cross the border in the town of Xeranij in Serekaniye (Northern Syria), killing one young man and seriously injuring another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citizens in Esenyurt protested against trustees and oppression at a rally organised by DEM Party, EMEP, T\u0130P, T\u00d6P, EHP and SMF. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday Mothers gathered at Galatasaray Square in week 1074 and demanded to know the fate of Yusuf Nergiz, who disappeared in custody 28 years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new investigation on espionage allegations has been launched involving \u0130stanbul’s suspended mayor Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu, his campaign director Necati \u00d6zkan, and journalist Merdan Yanarda\u011f, the \u0130stanbul Chief Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dersim branch of the Human Rights Association (\u0130HD) pointed out that the increasing number of military and police checkpoints in Dersim was leading to violations and demanded an immediate end to the climate of pressure created by arbitrary practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu was acquitted in a case related to his tenure as mayor of Beylikd\u00fcz\u00fc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While 2 people were rescued from the refugee boat sinking off the coast of Bodrum district of Mugla, 14 refugees lost their lives. The search for 2 refugees continues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of eight journalists who were detained for covering the Sara\u00e7hane protests, held in custody for one day, and then released, was heard today in Istanbul. The court immediately rejected the request for acquittal. Trial adjourned until 27 November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second hearing of the trial of 49 people detained during protests that began after Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu’s arrest was held in Istanbul. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A court in Ankara has rejected a lawsuit demanding the annulment of the CHP congress held in 2023, allowing the current party leadership to remain in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 23.10.2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can Atalay, who has been detained in Silivri for three years as part of the Gezi Park trial and whose parliamentary seat was revoked, recalled the Constitutional Court’s ruling on \u201crights violations\u201d and appealed to Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmu\u015f. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahmet T\u00fcrk was acquitted in the case in which he was tried on charges of \u201corganization propaganda\u201d and which was used as grounds for appointing a trustee to the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A court in \u0130stanbul has ordered the release of journalist Erc\u00fcment Akdeniz, former editor-in-chief of the left-wing daily Evrensel, after eight months in pre-trial detention. Akdeniz was among those detained in police raids in February targeting the Peoples’ Democratic Congress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of BirG\u00fcn Chair of the Board \u0130brahim Ayd\u0131n, Publishing Coordinator U\u011fur Ko\u00e7 and Managing Editor Ya\u015far G\u00f6kdemir began in Istanbul. U\u011fur Ko\u00e7 and Ya\u015far G\u00f6kdemir were sentenced to a judicial fine of 34,400 TL each. \u0130brahim Ayd\u0131n was sentenced to 11 months and 20 days in prison. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of Van Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Neslihan \u015eedal, who was prosecuted for her speech against the appointment of a trustee to the municipality, has been postponed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A request for the release of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet \u00d6zer, who was arrested as part of operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, was submitted through his lawyer H\u00fcseyin Ers\u00f6z. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 22.10.2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the operations conducted against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, 210 more people were summoned for questioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A citizen who attempted to film on-going deforestation in \u015e\u0131rnak’s Gabar region was reportedly threatened by soldiers, who later confiscated the person\u2019s phone and deleted the footage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human Rights Association (IHD) Ankara Branch co-chair Omer Faruk Yazmaci met with prioners in K\u0131r\u015fehir S-Type Closed Prison and he stated that relese of 8 prisoners prevented between July and October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Turkish Medical Association issued a statement regarding preparations for \u2018legislative changes concerning sexual identity\u2019 and stated that the provisions in the draft pose a threat to public health and fundamental human rights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An \u0130stanbul court has sentenced journalist Asuman Aranca to 10 months in prison for publishing details from an expert report related to the 2021 assassination of Sinan Ate\u015f, former leader of the Turkish Grey Wolves group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 21.10.2025 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CHP has decided to vote against the motion to send troops to Iraq and Syria in Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamaran Osman, CPT\u2019s Iraq representative, warned that Turkey is preparing for a new war in the Zap and Ava\u015f\u00een regions of the Kurdistan Region, building new military bases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MHP chair Devlet Bah\u00e7eli has renewed his call for Northern Cyprus to become part of Turkey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release of Sermin Demirda\u011f, who is being held at Sincan Women’s Closed Prison, has been blocked for the seventh time. The DEM Party has submitted an application to the Parliamentary Human Rights Investigation Commission (\u0130H\u0130K). Demira\u011f has been detained since 1993. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release of prisoner Nurcan Aslan has been postponed for a further six months on the grounds that she has served disciplinary sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 20.10.2025 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Erdo\u011fan has congratulated the pro-federation president-elect of Northern Cyprus, while his main ally Bah\u00e7eli has called on the Turkish cypriot parliament to reject the results and pursue unification with Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Footage emerged showing that H\u00fcseyin Bayrak, a candidate for the board of directors in the accountant and financial advisor elections, was booed by a racist group with shouts of \u2018Don’t speak. We have no respect for you\u2019 when he greeted the audience in Kurdish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The detention of the CHP mayors of Be\u015fikta\u015f, Esenyurt, Avc\u0131lar, Seyhan, Ceyhan and Adana Metropolitan Municipalities has been extended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that the ongoing process is not merely a security project, adding, \u2018It is a goal of civilisation. It means guaranteeing the right to life, peace and security.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third hearing of the retrial concerning journalist \u0130dris Y\u0131lmaz, following the Supreme Court’s overturning of his conviction for \u2018insult,\u2019 was held in Erci\u015f. The release of ill prisoner Cemil Irvendi (62), held in K\u0131r\u015fehir prison for 31 years, was postponed for the third time for 6 months by the Administration and Observation Board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-chairs of the DEM Party, T\u00fclay Hatimo\u011fullar\u0131 and Tuncer Bak\u0131rhan, visited Selahattin Demirta\u015f, the imprisoned co-chair of the HDP, at Edirne Prison. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the 2nd Mesopotamia Water Forum held in Diyarbak\u0131r, proposals were developed regarding the obstruction of the right to access water, ecological damage and the protection of water resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nil\u00fcfer’s former Mayor Turgay Erdem fell ill in prison and was transferred to intensive care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party Diyarbak\u0131r MP Berdan \u00d6zt\u00fcrk was sentenced to 6 years and 4 months in prison today in a case heard at the A\u011fr\u0131 1st High Criminal Court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fifteen people, including a member of the DEM Party A\u011fr\u0131 Municipal Council, were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 7 years and 6 months to 44 years by the A\u011fr\u0131 1st High Criminal Court. This was protested in A\u011fr\u0131. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case brought against Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu on charges of insulting prosecutors was dismissed before trial began after his lawyers made a preliminary payment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Supreme Election Board (YSK) has announced that there are no obstacles to the CHP’s 39th Ordinary Istanbul Provincial Congress taking place tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixteen bar associations announced that they would follow the case, stating that the investigation into the suspicious death of Van Y\u00fcz\u00fcnc\u00fc Y\u0131l University student Rojin Kabai\u015f had been conducted inadequately. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change has approved Cengiz Holding’s request to cut down 57,534 trees for mining exploration in Eski\u015fehir. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is an issue affecting thousands of people. No matter how you look at it, it must be lifted. It must be done from a legal perspective. Both politics and justice demand it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security guards and police intervened against Hacettepe University students who wanted to march to the Rector’s Office to protest the canteen price increase. Over 20 students were detained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Huseyin Yavic, a member of the Van-Hakkari Medical Chamber who participated in the autopsy of Rojin Kabais, said that major shortcomings in the investigation have hindered the process from the very beginning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the process initiated to resolve the Kurdish issue, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmu\u015f, who visited Diyarbak\u0131r, stated, \u2018This time we will succeed. This time peace, brotherhood and well-being will prevail.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beykoz Deputy Mayor \u00d6zlem Vural G\u00fcrzel appointed Council Member U\u011fur G\u00f6kdemir, who resigned from the CHP along with her, as a board member of the municipal company. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The request for the arrest of Specialist Sergeant Musa Orhan, who sexually assaulted \u0130pek Er and drove her to suicide, has been rejected once again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Announcing the 2026 budget, Deputy President Cevdet Y\u0131lmaz said the largest share would be allocated to education and defence spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KESK members affected by the KHK decree, who reached Ankara with their \u2018Five Days, Seven Cities, One Voice\u2019 march, were blocked by a police cordon while attempting to march to the Ministry of Justice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numan Kurtulmu\u015f, Chairperson of the National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy Commission established in Parliament, will be in Diyarbak\u0131r tomorrow for meetings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The draft of the 11th Judicial Package, which is expected to be submitted to Parliament, has been sent to political parties. It does not include any provisions that would facilitate the resolution of the Kurdish issue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The motion submitted by the DEM Party to the Parliament’s General Assembly to investigate the death of university student Rojin Kabai\u015f was rejected by votes from the AKP and MHP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality announced that it would file a criminal complaint against former mayor Melih G\u00f6k\u00e7ek for making misleading posts on social media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 57 youth organisations within the Youth Organisations Forum (GOFOR) presented their demands to the commission for the resolution of the Kurdish issue.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 14.10.2025<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that Kurdish politician Aysel Tu\u011fluk was detained for political reasons, concluding that her 2016 pre-trial detention was intended to suppress political opposition and limit democratic pluralism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An indictment has been prepared against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan, seeking a prison sentence of between six months and three years for the crime of \u201cresisting the performance of duty\u201d against a security officer assigned to \u00c7a\u011flayan Courthouse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parliamentary Vice-President Pervin Buldan responded to the \u0130Y\u0130 Party Group, which insulted Abdullah \u00d6calan and targeted her, saying, \u2018We will continue to speak of peace and brotherhood in this country. Know your place.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twenty people, including journalist Fato\u015f Erdo\u011fan, who tweeted during the siege of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters, have been prosecuted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mesut Aslan, a member of the Education Union \u015e\u0131rnak Branch Executive Committee, has begun a hunger strike in protest against the overturning of the prison sentence handed down to Burak Ercan, the deputy headmaster who sexually abused 43 students in Cizre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nine of the 33 individuals detained as part of an investigation into allegations of bribery in connection with permit applications submitted to the Ministry of National Defence have been arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journalist and documentary director Hakan Tosun, who had not been heard from since the night of 10 October, was found beaten on the roadside. Tosun, who was stated to have had a brain haemorrhage, was taken under treatment in the intensive care unit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The autopsy report from the Forensic Medicine Institute stated that MHP-affiliated lawyer Serdar \u00d6ktem sustained separate injuries to his head, face, and left arm, each of which was lethal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first hearing of the case against journalist Eli Akg\u00fcl, who was arrested in February 2025 during an HDK operation and released in June, on charges of \u2018membership of an organisation\u2019 was held in Istanbul.
