HDP M\u00fb\u015f former co-chair Muhlise Karag\u00fczel was released after completing her sentence. During her imprisonment, Karag\u00fczel was on the Human Rights Association’s (\u0130HD) list of seriously ill prisoners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ecologists, politicians and residents protesting against the opening of a mine in the \u00c7\u0131nar district of Diyarbak\u0131r planted chestnut trees on the mining site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Health and Social Services Workers’ Union (SES) Diyarbak\u0131r Branch and the Diyarbak\u0131r Medical Association stated that the third transfer of radiology specialist Dr Ercan D\u00f6nmez, who works in the Erxen\u00ee district of Amed, to a location outside the province was unlawful and demanded that it be stopped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday Mothers gathered at Galatasaray Square in week 1079 and demanded justice in Diyarbak\u0131r for Mahmut Do\u011fan, who was detained in 1993 and subsequently murdered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the parliamentary commission’s visit to Imrali, President Erdo\u011fan met with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmu\u015f. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cihan Ayd\u0131n, Co-Chair of the Human Rights Association (\u0130HD), stated that during the ongoing process a framework law should be brought to the agenda, adding that if regulations are not put in place, difficulties will be encountered in making the process more socially inclusive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release of Melike G\u00f6ksu, a member of the HDP who was elected co-mayor of Erzurum’s Karayaz\u0131 district in the 2019 local elections and then arrested on charges of \u2018being a member of an organisation\u2019 and sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison, has been postponed for 6 month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release of six prisoners, including those who have been imprisoned for 32 years in Bak\u0131rk\u00f6y, Bolu Prison and Silivri Prison, has been postponed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prisoners at K\u0131r\u015fehir Prison reported that guards provoked judicial detainees against them, using provocative statements such as, “These are terrorists, pour boiling water on them when they are in the exercise yard.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHP chair \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel stated that an AKP member had approached them regarding the commission’s visit to \u0130mral\u0131, saying, \u2018You should come too. There will be no video or photos. No one will know what day you went or returned.\u2019 AKP Group Chairman Abdullah G\u00fcler denied this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second hearing of the case against eight journalists who were detained and arrested while covering the Sara\u00e7hane protests was held in Istanbul. The judge acquitted the journalists due to insufficient evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the investigation prepared on allegations of corruption against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, with the lifting of confidentiality, it was noted that Tayfun Kahraman, convicted in the Gezi case, was listed as a suspect with the note \u2018fugitive\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

RT\u00dcK imposed fines on three television channels and two radio stations for broadcasting violations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharing that the borders of Iraq, Syria and Iran are covered with landmines, DEM MP Kamuran Tanhan stated that these mines have caused the loss of 45 children’s lives in 10 years, noting that clearing these mines is a necessity for establishing internal peace and social trust. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parliamentary commission will meet on 1 December to read the views of Kurdish leader Abdullah \u00d6calan and the minutes of the meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party MP G\u00fclistan K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7 Ko\u00e7yi\u011fit reacted to the massacres targeting Alawites in Syria, emphasising that the armed forces’ stance undermines social peace and hopes for democracy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fatih Altayl\u0131 was sentenced to four years and two months in prison at the second hearing of his trial on charges of \u2018threatening the president,\u2019 and the court ruled that he should remain in custody. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0130stanbul\u2019s 40th Heavy Penal Court has accepted the indictment in a major corruption investigation targeting the \u0130stanbul Metropolitan Municipality and its suspended mayor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MHP Chair Devlet Bah\u00e7eli stated that the Parliamentary Commission delegation’s meeting with Abdullah \u00d6calan in \u0130mral\u0131 was a historic development, emphasising that \u2018the most serious interlocutor is in \u0130mral\u0131.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of BirG\u00fcn columnist Zafer Arapkirli on charges of \u201cinsulting the president\u201d was held in Istanbul. The judge accepted the participation request of the President\u2019s lawyers. Trial adjourned until January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release of Mehmet Sait Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m (74), a 31-year-old sick prisoner held at \u0130zmir K\u0131r\u0131klar No. 1 F-Type Closed Prison, has been postponed for nine months by the Administration and Observation Board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Erdogan stated in his remarks to journalists that the commission’s decision to meet with Abdullah Ocalan would pave the way for the process and contribute to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lawyer Ezgi \u00d6zkan stated that they had lodged an appeal against administrative fines imposed on at least 17 women for allegedly participating in an action that had never been carried out in Mersin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

EMEP MP Sevda Karaca stated that no action had been taken regarding the harassment of a female worker in Antep by Ahmet Aslansoy, whose father is an AKP MP, and asked, \u2018Is he being protected because of his political power?\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journalists \u00d6znur De\u011fer and Osman Ak\u0131n, who reported on the criminal complaint filed against Kamil Aksoy, commander of the K\u0131z\u0131ltepe Gendarmerie Commando Battalion, who is alleged to have committed torture during a house raid, have been sued on charges of \u2018targeting\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00d6zlem \u00d6zkan, head of the Istanbul Bar Association’s Women’s Rights Centre, stated that in recent years, cases of femicide have been predominantly classified as \u2018suspicious deaths,\u2019 adding that this makes it easy to cover up the killings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-Chair of the DEM Party, Tuncer Bak\u0131rhan, called on the CHP to be courageous and take risks in the Imrali process, stating, \u2018A role must be played in this century-old issue; the Kurdish question is not an issue that can be resolved with a single link.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu stated that the refusal to support the proposal for a meeting on \u0130mral\u0131 was \u2018a stance against methods that do not have the approval of the people.\u2019 He emphasised that caution would continue without steps towards democratisation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Erdo\u011fan stated in his remarks following the G20 Summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa, that he would hold a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin tomorrow. Erdo\u011fan indicated that he would request Putin to reopen the grain corridor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation to be sent to \u0130mral\u0131 by the Parliament commission has been determined. The delegation will include AKP Hatay MP H\u00fcseyin Yayman, MHP Istanbul MP Feti Y\u0131ld\u0131z and DEM Party Kars MP G\u00fclistan K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7 Ko\u00e7yi\u011fit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New Path Group, formed by the Felicity, Future and DEVA parties, has decided not to send any members to the delegation to be sent to Imrali as part of the resolution process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHP Deputy Group Chair Murat Emir announced that the CHP will not send a representative to \u0130mral\u0131. In the closed session meeting, 32 votes were cast in favour, 3 against and 2 abstentions. The CHP did not attend the session. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Vice chair Feti Y\u0131ld\u0131z said: “I will go from our party.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Private Security Unit attacked Anadolu University students, preventing them from taking action and forcing them out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

E\u011fitim Sen stated that the Ministry of National Education’s 2026 budget was allocated to mandatory expenditures rather than investment in education, saying, \u2018The budget does not provide quality education; it only focuses on maintaining the current system.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AKP commission members, who convened to discuss the Imral\u0131 agenda, decided to vote in favour of the visit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CHP’s Istanbul Provincial Directorate applied to the Constitutional Court against the appointment of a trustee, demanding that the unlawful intervention be stopped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 20th hearing of the trial in which 11 people, including Seda \u015earald\u0131 – a lawyer and member of the Contemporary Lawyers Association (\u00c7HD) – are being prosecuted on charges of \u201cmembership in a terrorist organization\u201d based on their professional activities, was held in \u0130stanbul. Turkey Today – 19.11.2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Motions to lift the immunity of eleven members of parliament in Turkey \u2013 including DEM co-chair T\u00fclay Hatimo\u011fullar\u0131 and CHP leader \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel \u2013 have been submitted. The cases are now before the relevant parliamentary committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Erdo\u011fan, referring to the commission’s vote on whether to visit Abdullah \u00d6calan, said, \u2018I wholeheartedly believe that the commission will make the most correct and appropriate decision for Turkey, Turkey’s secure future, and the unity and solidarity of our nation.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the decision of the commission to convene with the agenda of visiting Abdullah \u00d6calan, both the AKP and CHP have decided to hold internal meetings with their own members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest field research reports sent by SAMER Field Research Center to Abdullah \u00d6calan were returned with the note \u201cNot accepted by the institution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kani Torun, Bursa MP for the Future Party, referring to Bah\u00e7eli’s \u2018Imral\u0131 visit\u2019 statement, said, \u2018If the need arises, I am also willing to go to Imral\u0131 with Mr Bah\u00e7eli.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party MPs brought to parliament the issue of prisoners’ families being subjected to oral cavity searches at Erzincan Prison and the refusal to allow the Evrensel and Yeni Ya\u015fam newspaper. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MHP Chair Devlet Bah\u00e7eli, speaking at his party\u2019s parliamentary group meeting stated: \u201cThe commission has now entered its final stretch, and delaying a visit to \u0130mral\u0131 makes no sense! If no one is willing to go, I will take three of my colleagues with me, I would not hesitate to go to \u0130mral\u0131.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At today’s meeting of the Parliament’s commission, National Defence Minister Ya\u015far G\u00fcler, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya and MIT President \u0130brahim Kal\u0131n made presentations. The commission decided to convene on Friday with the agenda of visiting Abdullah \u00d6calan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Criticising Turkey’s Syria policy, Future Party MP Kani Torun stated that Turkey was pursuing a military strategy and should abandon it, saying, \u2018Turkey should not fear decentralisation. A decentralised solution must be found.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Diyarbak\u0131r, 750 organisations, platforms, initiatives, parties and communities gathered under the leadership of the Social Initiative for the Kurdish Language issued a declaration demanding official recognition of the Kurdish language. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 17.11.2025 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kurdistan Workers\u2019 Party (PKK), which declared its disbandment, announced that guerrilla forces in the Zap area that posed a risk of conflict had been relocated to different areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A statute of limitations ruling has been issued in the case concerning the massacre that took place at Bayrampa\u015fa Prison on 19 December 2000, known as the \u2018Return to Life Operation,\u2019 in which 12 prisoners lost their lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of academic Emrah G\u00fclsunar, who is in pre-trial detention on charges of \u201cpublic incitement to commit a crime,\u201d was held in Istanbul. The court ruled for Emrah G\u00fclsunar\u2019s release under the condition of a travel ban. Trial adjourned until January.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at a press conference announcing the establishment of the Turkish Medical Association’s Peace, Democracy and Health Working Group, Dr P\u0131nar Saip said, \u2018The solution to the Kurdish issue through democratic and peaceful means is possible with a democratisation programme.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presidential Chief Adviser Mehmet U\u00e7um cited Law No. 1239, enacted following the Sheikh Said rebellion, as an example of legislation expected to be introduced as part of the process; an extremely problematic approach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

T\u00fclay Hatimo\u011fullar\u0131 addressed the government at the \u2018Nature and Life Rally\u2019 held in Dersim: \u2018The pressure on the CHP is sabotaging the process. Put an end to your pressure on the opposition.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHP MP \u0130nan Akg\u00fcn Alp stated that the commission should meet with Abdullah \u00d6calan, saying, \u2018If the state is meeting with Abdullah \u00d6calan, why shouldn’t the commission? Because he is the one who can end the conflict.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expressing optimism about the process, Saadet Party Parliamentary Group Chairman B\u00fclent Kaya stated that the reason for the lack of confidence in the process stemmed from the AKP not providing sufficient support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Trump had ordered the lifting of CAATSA sanctions against Turkey, but that his counterpart Rubio had said they were \u2018unable to budge\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHP Istanbul MP Dr Gamze Akku\u015f \u0130lgezdi stated that the increasing number of suicides and poor conditions in KYK dormitories were driving young people to despair, saying, \u2018Dormitories are not safe spaces; they are the address of silent cries.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The family of Azat Tas held in Tarsus prison, who has a 62 per cent mental disability report and suffers from epilepsy, called for action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u015e\u0131rnak Bar Association announced that Nurullah Cin, who is being held at \u015e\u0131rnak T-Type Closed Prison, was beaten by guards for requesting to be transferred to a political wing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Bayrampa\u015fa Municipality investigation, Chief of Staff R\u0131dvan \u00d6zt\u00fcrk, who was arrested alongside Mayor Hasan Mutlu, was released approximately two months later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday Mothers gathered at Galatasaray Square in week 1077 and demanded justice, stating that the perpetrators of Naz\u0131m G\u00fclmez, who was taken from his home by soldiers on 14 October 1994 and never returned, were protected by impunity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the 88th anniversary of the execution of Sey\u00eed Riza and his comrades, civil society organisations in Dersim demanded the disclosure of the burial sites, recognition of the massacres of 1937\/38 as genocide, and an apology from the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 14.11.2025 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gendarmerie told the doctor who objected to the handcuffed examination imposed on two female prisoners at Erzincan Women’s Closed Prison that \u2018their crimes are different\u2019 and threatened to take notes if the handcuffs were removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the ongoing budget discussions, DEM Party MP G\u00fclcan Ka\u00e7maz Sayyi\u011fit called on the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to promote projects in Kurdish and other languages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Batman Bar Association President Hamit \u00c7akan, who has spoken out against individual gun ownership, said that social awareness campaigns are needed to create a safe living environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the case brought against six employees of Leman magazine over a cartoon, Do\u011fan Pehlevan was granted bail. However, Pehlevan remains in custody in the case of \u2018insulting the President\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party Spokesperson Aysegul Dogan has called on the government to clearly state its position regarding the possibility of the parliamentary commission meeting with Abdullah Ocalan leaving no room for ambiguity or speculation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two courts denied the release of Tayfun Kahraman, one of the jailed defendants in the Gezi Park trial, despite a Constitutional Court ruling that found his right to a fair trial had been violated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access to Istanbul Mayor Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu’s X account has been blocked in Turkey. On 8 May, a decision was made to block access to the X account named \u2018Presidential Candidate Office,\u2019 where \u0130mamo\u011flu continued to share posts after his personal account was blocked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a supplementary report submitted by the Council of Forensic Medicine (ATK) regarding the case of Rojin Kabai\u015f, it was confirmed that the two DNA samples found on her body could not have resulted from contamination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 12.11.2025 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The request for the release of former co-mayor of Diyarbak\u0131r Metropolitan Municipality, Adnan Sel\u00e7uk M\u0131zrakl\u0131, under supervised release, was rejected by the Prison Administration and Observation Board on the grounds that \u2018he has not made any statement indicating that he has left the terrorist organisation during his time in our institution.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Tayyip Erdo\u011fan and MHP Chair Devlet Bah\u00e7eli met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zelal Bilgin, a prisoner at Sincan Prison who stated that her treatment was being obstructed, said, \u2018We are not being taken to hospital on the grounds that the doctor is on leave.\u2019  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first hearing of the trial against imprisoned journalist Perihan Erk\u0131l\u0131n\u00e7 Okay, who is charged with \u201cmembership in a terrorist organization,\u201d was held in Istanbul. The court ordered the release of Perihan Erk\u0131l\u0131n\u00e7 Okay, imposing a travel ban. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of journalist Furkan Karabay, who faces a 150,000 TL non-pecuniary damages lawsuit filed by Antalya Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor Yakup Ali Kahveci, was held in Istanbul. Trial adjourned until June 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 11.11.2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The corruption investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, which led to Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu’s arrest, has been completed. Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu faces between 828 and 2,352 years in prison for 142 offences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Istanbul Anatolia Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office ruled that there were \u2018no grounds for prosecution\u2019 regarding sexist attacks and targeting of Eren Keskin, Co-Chair of the Human Rights Association (\u0130HD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Detained Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet \u00d6zer has been granted bail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Human Rights Association (\u0130HD) Istanbul Branch has sent letters to all political parties with parliamentary groups, urging their support for the release of their imprisoned and seriously ill member, Hatice Onaran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prisoner Zelal Bilgin, held at Sincan Women\u2019s Closed Prison, reported that prisoners are being denied access to healthcare, stating, \u201cWe are not taken to the hospital under the pretext that the doctor is on leave.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality indictment, Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu, his father, and 36 other individuals, including his son, were requested to have their companies seized. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
