Under the protocol signed with the Ministry of Education, the Ensar Foundation, which came under scrutiny after dozens of children were abused, will teach \u2018Morality in Forty Lessons\u2019 in Mersin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legal experts stated that the 11th Judicial Package, which excludes political prisoners, failed to meet expectations, asking, \u2018Is the package truly the product of a democratic mindset?\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Turkish newspaper, known for its proximity to the government, wrote that a \u2018total mobilisation\u2019 would be launched at the instruction of President Erdo\u011fan to explain the reasons for the legal steps to be taken by the AKP in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In actions led by the Human Rights Association to draw attention to the situation of imprisoned patients, the release of Kemal Ert\u00fcrk and Ayhan Kavak was demanded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the anniversaries of the Mara\u015f and Robosk\u00ee massacres, the \u0130skenderun branch of the Human Rights Association (\u0130HD) called for legal reforms to uncover all massacres and for the establishment of a Truth Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ercan Y\u0131lmaz, head of the Human Rights Association’s Diyarbak\u0131r branch, pointed out that the reports submitted by the parties to Parliament were insufficient in addressing the consequences of the Kurdish issue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Constitutional Court reviewed a decision that will affect two cases in which Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu is being tried on charges of \u2018insulting a public official\u2019. The Constitutional Court rejected the annulment of the provisions on insulting a public official in the Turkish Penal Code. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journalist Bar\u0131\u015f Terko\u011flu, who was detained on the grounds of a video broadcast on television, was released on bail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tayfun Kahraman, who was admitted to hospital yesterday after suffering an MS attack, was not given his medication upon arrival at prison because the distribution time had passed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 24.12.2025 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three people were detained on charges of \u2018making organisation propaganda\u2019 during house raids in \u015e\u0131rnak. It was reported that Hanife Kabul, who does not speak Turkish, was beaten after being forced to speak Turkish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four prisoners standing trial in Antalya on charges of allegedly damaging the wire mesh on the windows were prevented by the judge from presenting their defense in Kurdish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pointing to the conflictual developments in the world and the region, Numan Kurtulmu\u015f said, \u2018It is clear that Turkey does not have much time left to consolidate its domestic front and establish brotherhood, peace and non-conflict.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Tayyip Erdo\u011fan criticised the report submitted to Parliament by the CHP, stating, \u2018They have no solutions to offer.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second hearing of the trial involving 53 individuals, including LGBT+ individuals detained during the 23rd Istanbul Pride March and bianet editor Evrim G\u00fcnd\u00fcz, journalists Nur Kaya and Yusuf \u00c7elik, and photographer Cansu Y\u0131ld\u0131ran, who were following the protests, was held in Istanbul. The Constitutional Court (AYM) ruled that the decision to record the lawyer visits of 36 political prisoners held at Tokat T-Type Closed Prison, to seize their documents and to have officials present during the visits violated their right to respect for private life, and ordered compensation to be paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justice Minister Y\u0131lmaz Tun\u00e7 shared that during the meeting with the DEM Party Imral\u0131 Delegation, they discussed the process and the roadmap that the commission would prepare, adding that they also discussed the steps to be taken. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following allegations of harassment against female interns at the Grand National Assembly restaurant, an investigation has been launched into allegations of harassment against a senior Assembly employee who held high-level positions during Mustafa \u015eentop’s term. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHP, DEM Party and T\u0130P MPs joined the protest held in front of the Parliament by families who lost loved ones in the 6 February earthquakes, demanding that earthquake defendants be excluded from the 11th Judicial Package.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AKP has submitted its report, prepared as part of the process, to Parliament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party A\u011fr\u0131 MP S\u0131rr\u0131 Sak\u0131k stated that 499 out of 600 MPs receive double salaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mehmet Murat \u00c7al\u0131k, the Mayor of Beylikd\u00fcz\u00fc, who is currently in custody, was taken to hospital due to a mass detected in his throat. \u00c7al\u0131k, who has previously beaten cancer twice, underwent another biopsy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nine months after the Sara\u00e7hane protests, university students gathered in Beyaz\u0131t and marched in support of their detained friends. Following the statement, 26 students were taken into custody amid a police cordon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cihan Berk, a reporter for P\u0130RHA, who was detained in D\u00earsim in the early hours of the morning, has been arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the public disclosure of the injustices suffered by seriously ill prisoner Cemil \u0130vrendi, who was being held at K\u0131r\u015fehir S Type Closed Prison in recent months, the prison administration launched a disciplinary investigation against him. \u0130vrendi was punished with solitary confinement and communication restrictions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Footage has emerged showing the moment prisoner \u00d6mer Cuma Sal\u0131h was tortured by guards. The footage shows bruises and swelling on Sal\u0131h’s face after the incident. An expert witness reported that Sal\u0131h had been subjected to \u2018ill-treatment\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second hearing of the trial against human rights defender Nurcan Kaya, who is charged with \u201cmembership in a terrorist organization\u201d, was held in Istanbul. The court ruled that the travel ban would be evaluated along with the final judgment. Trial adjourned until February. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on a television channel, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan argued that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) must comply with the 10 March agreement between the Syrian Transitional Government and the SDF. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MHP Chair Devlet Bah\u00e7eli emphasised that the rally calling for the release of Kurdish leader Abdullah \u00d6calan was an expression of freedom of speech. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The struggle waged by \u0130zmir Metropolitan Municipality workers for 10 days against additional payments and the \u2018pool\u2019 system has ended in victory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmu\u015f, held a meeting with the group coordinators of the political parties represented on the process committee. The meeting discussed the creation of a joint final text. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human rights lawyer Suna Bilgin was sentenced to six years and three months in prison on charges of \u2018being a member of an organisation\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party member Celal F\u0131rat reacted by stating that the 174 billion lira budget allocated to the Presidency of Religious Affairs was more than the share allocated to five ministries and 128 universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the case of the collapse of Ya\u015fam Konutlar\u0131 in the 6 February earthquakes in Antep, which resulted in the loss of 40 lives, the court sentenced AKP contractor Yunus Kaya to 12 years in prison for \u2018causing death and injury through deliberate negligence\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Band\u0131rma Mayor Dursun Mirza stated that the free soup service provided to students at Band\u0131rma On Yedi Eyl\u00fcl University for months had been terminated following the intervention of former AKP MP Cemal \u00d6ztaylan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 16.12.2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twelve people were detained as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on allegations of \u2018being a member of an organisation\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement made in front of Bak\u0131rk\u00f6y Women’s Closed Prison the Human Rights Association (\u0130HD) and the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (T\u0130HV) called for the immediate release of IHD member Suna Bilgin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first hearing was held in Istanbul in the case against journalists who participated in a planned public statement to commemorate journalists Naz\u0131m Da\u015ftan and Cihan Bilgin, who were killed in Syria. The judicial control measures against five journalists have been lifted. Trial adjourned until May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DEM Party Imral\u0131 Delegation met with Ahmet Davuto\u011flu, Chair of the Future Party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following its presentation to Erdo\u011fan, the 65-page report comprising 11 chapters prepared by the AKP on the process is expected to be submitted to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey has issued a new statement regarding the harassment at the Assembly restaurant. While allegations that a girl became pregnant as a result of abuse were denied, the 2018 harassment case was described as \u201cirrelevant\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mersin branch of the Human Rights Association (\u0130HD) has called for an independent and effective investigation into the death of Poyraz, a transgender prisoner who died in Sincan Prison, stating that the claim that it was a suicide is unacceptable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party MP \u00c7i\u00e7ek Otlu called for an effective investigation, stating that the case file concerning Rojin Kabai\u015f’s death had been closed confidentially and that DNA belonging to two men had been found on her body. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saadet Party Chairman Mahmut Ar\u0131kan said on a television programme that they could join the People’s Alliance if the conditions were right. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the Cabinet Meeting, President Tayyip Erdo\u011fan of the AKP emphasised unity and brotherhood, stating that they would not tolerate divisive rhetoric. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erol K\u00f6\u00e7er, a member of the lawyers association \u00d6HD, stated that the human rights violations occurring in prisons were contrary to the spirit of the process, saying, \u2018Prisons are a test of the sincerity of the process.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Hakkari, where numerous villages are off-limits, citizens can only visit their villages once a year. Responding to the situation, citizens asked, \u2018The PKK has withdrawn, so your justification is gone. Why are our villages still off-limits?\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been reported that Ishak Dayan, who has been held in a cell for months at Burdur High Security Prison, was threatened by guards who said, “If you don’t say ‘How happy I am to be Turkish,’ we’ll kill you.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of the Interior announced that the person who called S\u00f6zc\u00fc newspaper’s Ankara correspondent Sayg\u0131 \u00d6zt\u00fcrk saying \u2018This is Green Code Mahmut Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m\u2019 had called from prison and was identified as a convicted murderer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journalist Osman \u00c7akl\u0131, who had been detained, was released with a travel ban and judicial supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the resignation of Furkan Torlak, whose name appeared in a news report related to the investigation in which journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy was arrested, from his position as Coordinator of the Centre for Combating Disinformation, Deniz Demir was appointed to replace him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Erdo\u011fan’s Chief Adviser Mehmet U\u00e7um statet that the process was a \u2018state initiative and state policy,\u2019 saying, \u2018The state did not treat this as a Kurdish issue. It was treated entirely as a matter of effectively eliminating the terrorist organisation.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday Mothers gathered at Galatasaray Square in week 1081 and demanded justice for \u0130brahim Demir and Agit Akipa, who were detained in 1991 and later tortured to death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van Bar Association President Sinan \u00d6zaraz announced that they had approached a private university regarding the Rojin Kabai\u015f case and requested that they prepare an alternative report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DEM Party has completed the second day of its four-pronged march, launched with the demand for a \u2018Budget for Bread and Peace\u2019 during the parliamentary debate on the 2026 Central Budget Law. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A motion was submitted to Parliament to lift the immunity of CHP General Chairman \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel and six MPs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Berivan Barin from the \u00d6HD stated that the release of 13 prisoners in Bolu Prison, most of whom have been for over 30 years, has been blocked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burak B\u00fcy\u00fckkaya, a prisoner at Dumlu Prison No. 2, described the violations there, stating that a letter sent to him had been censored. \u2018Only the line \u201ctake care of yourself, mate\u201d remained on the page; the rest had been blacked out. Of course, this isn’t the first time,\u2019 he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four people have been detained as part of an investigation into the sexual abuse of secondary school students working in Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Erdo\u011fan and Russian President Putin, who met at the International Peace and Security Forum in Ashgabat, discussed diplomatic steps regarding the war in Ukraine and regional developments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New rectors have been appointed to nine universities by decree of President Erdo\u011fan. Prof. Dr. Mehmet G\u00f6rmez, former President of the Directorate of Religious Affairs, has been appointed to the International University of Islam, Science and Technology in Turkey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 11.12.2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The allegation that Mahmut Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m, codenamed \u2018Ye\u015fil\u2019, called S\u00f6zc\u00fc newspaper columnist Sayg\u0131 \u00d6zt\u00fcrk for a meeting was brought to the agenda of the Parliament. DEM Party A\u011fr\u0131 MP S\u0131rr\u0131 Sak\u0131k questioned the Ministry of the Interior about the allegations in the news report. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 12th hearing of the case against 26 people, who are being prosecuted for allegedly violating the Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations for participating in a commemoration event for the Amasra mine disaster was held in Ankara. The defendants were sentenced to five months in prison, and judicial fines were imposed on some of them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bak\u0131r\u00f6y Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has appealed against the statute of limitations ruling in the \u2018Operation Life Return\u2019 case, which resulted in the killing of 12 prisoners, on the grounds that it violates the law. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sofya Ala\u011fa\u015f, whose father Hac\u0131 Ala\u011fa\u015f suffered a heart attack in prison and was taken to hospital, has appealed to the public for sensitivity after stating that he was kept in the intensive care unit for a week with his hands and feet shackled to the bed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Administrative Court suspended the implementation of the decision by the Siirt Municipality, under the administration of a trustee, to open Newala Qesaba, where mass graves are located, for development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One person has been arrested in connection with the scandal involving the harassment of female interns working at the Turkish Grand National Assembly restaurant by Assembly staff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the detained Editor-in-Chief of Habert\u00fcrk TV, has been charged with \u2018possessing and supplying narcotics\u2019 as well as \u2018establishing and managing an organisation\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 10.12.2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members of the Eski\u015fehir Kurdish Community protested the Odunpazar\u0131 District National Education Directorate’s blocking of the Kurdish language course they had started last Sunday for university students on the grounds that it was an \u2018unauthorised educational activity\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DEM Party, CHP and EMEP submitted their reports prepared within the scope of the commission’s work to Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The General Secretariat of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) has launched an administrative investigation into allegations of abuse involving high school student interns working at the parliament restaurant. Parliamentary staff is accused of “systematic abuse” allegedly ongoing for several years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students who set up a stall for a university-approved event at Kocaeli University were confronted by the security officer; one student complained that he had been assaulted in the security office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first hearing was held in Istanbul in the case against journalist Erdo\u011fan Alayumat, Tu\u011f\u00e7e Y\u0131lmaz, Suzan Demir, G\u00fclcan Dereli, Kemal Taylan Abatan, translator Serap G\u00fcne\u015f, and sociologist Berfin Atl\u0131. They are accused of \u201caiding a terrorist organization\u201d over payments received for their reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Antalya branch of \u00d6HD called on the Ministry of Justice and Parliament to conduct an independent and effective investigation into the torture and human rights violations suffered by political prisoners in Burdur Prison. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prosecutor’s appeal against the release of journalist Furkan Karabay, who had been detained for 201 days, was rejected; thus, the decision to release Karabay became final. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
