Speaking on the 170th month of the Roboski Massacre, Tanju G\u00fcnd\u00fczalp, a member of the Justice Initiative for Roboski, said, \u2018Roboski is one of the central bases of the state’s historical \u201cimpunity paradigm\u201d.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHP leader \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel announced that a lawsuit had been filed against Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu over an \u201cofficial vehicle\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Saturday Mothers, in their 1092nd week of protests, emphasised that they would not give up their demand for justice, questioning the fate of C\u00fcneyt Ayd\u0131nlar, who disappeared in custody 32 years ago.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was alleged that a detainee at Kand\u0131ra Type T Prison No. 1 was taken to hospital with suspected meningitis, but no quarantine measures were implemented in the cell block. It was claimed that the vaccine was available only at a cost, but no official statement was made. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The General Manager and a reporter of Koza TV were detained as part of an investigation launched into the broadcasting of footage related to Incirlik Air Base. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 26.02.2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asr\u0131n Law Office announced that Abdullah \u00d6calan, who is being held in Imral\u0131 F-Type High Security Closed Prison, and other detainees Hamili Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m, \u00d6mer Hayri Konar, Ergin Atabey and Mahmut Yamalak had a meeting with their families today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diyarbak\u0131r Bar Association Vice President \u015eilan \u00c7elik stated that the definitions within the proposed transitional legislation mentioned in the Parliamentary Commission\u2019s report must be clearly formulated and that cooperation with bar associations is essential to ensure the credibility and oversight of the process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A student who participated in the 19 March protests at Hacettepe University was given a one-year suspension. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third hearing in the case against Z\u00fcleyha M\u00fcld\u00fcr, a reporter for Etkin News Agency (ETHA), and two others, who are charged with \u201cmembership in an armed organization\u201d and \u201cpropaganda for an organization,\u201d was held in Istanbul. Trial adjourned to May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third hearing in the case against journalist Feyza Nur \u00c7al\u0131ko\u011flu, who is on trial on charges of \u201cpublicly disseminating misleading information\u201d for reporting on allegations of ill-treatment at the \u00c7atalca Removal Center, was held in Istanbul. The court ruled to acquit Feyza Nur \u00c7al\u0131ko\u011flu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 24.02.2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramazan Demir, one of the lawyers representing former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirta\u015f, has been sentenced to 7 months and 15 days in prison. Demir, who had previously been sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in another case, announced that they would appeal the latest ruling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Numan Kurtulmu\u015f visited DEM Party Co-Chairs T\u00fclay Hatimo\u011fullar\u0131 and Tuncer Bak\u0131rhan to discuss the process commission report and the steps to be taken. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numan Kurtulmu\u015f met with CHP Leader \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel to discuss the process commission report and the steps to be taken. \u00d6zel said, \u2018The solution arrangements and democratisation steps must be implemented without delay and together.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The application to find the instigators of the attack on the Evrensel newspaper’s Izmir office was rejected by the public prosecutor’s office on the grounds that there were no grounds for prosecution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of lawyers \u00d6z\u00fcm Vurgun and Necat \u00c7i\u00e7ek, members of Lawyers Association \u00d6HD, who were being tried on the basis of statements made by the confessed perpetrator \u00dcmit Akb\u0131y\u0131k, has been postponed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 23.02.2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CHP Congress case has been postponed until 1 April. The court has decided to request that it be combined with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-chairs of the DEM Party, T\u00fclay Hatimo\u011fullar\u0131 and Tuncer Bak\u0131rhan, will meet with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmu\u015f tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kemal Irmak, President of the Education Union, said in a statement that the Ministry of Education had characterised \u2018Ramadan activities\u2019 in schools as divisive and dangerous games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2nd hearing in the trial of Council of Europe Youth Delegate Enes Hocao\u011fullar\u0131, who is charged with \u201cinciting hatred and hostility among the public,\u201d was held in Ankara. Enes Hocao\u011fullar\u0131 has been acquitted of all charges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of journalist Y\u0131ld\u0131z Tar and writer \u0130brahim El\u00e7i, who are charged with \u201cmembership in an armed terrorist organization\u201d as part of the HDK investigation, was held in Ankara. Trial adjourned to June.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KCK Executive Council issued a written statement regarding the report prepared by the Parliamentary Commission stating that the failure to mention the Kurdish issue in the report is a continuation of centuries of denial. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramazan Kaya, an inmate at Erzurum Dumlu Prison No. 2, stated that he had been harassed by guards under the guise of searches and that if the searches continued, he and his fellow inmates had decided not to leave their cell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the parliamentary report, President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan asked his staff to \u2018be careful not to create a false perception among citizens\u2019 regarding the regulation on the \u2018right to hope\u2019 for Abdullah \u00d6calan, which was discussed afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DEM Party Local Administration Council issued a reprimand against M\u00fcmin Erol for using sexist language and making insulting remarks towards journalist M\u00fccahit Tarlan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numan Kurtulmu\u015f stated that the legal regulations in the process report prepared by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey should be put on the agenda after Ramadan, and said that there was no hidden agenda in the constitutional debates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Platform to Stop Women’s Murders called for an effective investigation, stating that the deaths of Bal\u0131mnaz and Nergis T\u00fcrkkal, who died in the flood in Izmir, were \u2018suspicious\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

IPI and 13 partner orgs demand the immediate release of investigative journalist Alican Uluda\u011f, who was arrested on charges of “insulting the president” over his reporting and social media posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associate Professor Dr G\u00fcl K\u00f6ksal, who was dismissed from Kocaeli University under Decree Law No. 672, has been reinstated to her position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 20.02.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IHD stated that the language used in the process report did not respond to the spirit and needs of the peace process, and that the emphasis on concepts from the past created a distance from the idea of \u2018peace\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of 22 human rights defenders, including G\u00fcnseli Kaya, a member of the Founding Board of the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (HRFT), charged with \u201cinsulting the President,\u201d was held in Istanbul. Four people were released. The hearing was adjourned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the \u2018right to hope,\u2019 Justice Minister Ak\u0131n G\u00fcrlek stated that the article in question was not included in the laws and that the authority to regulate it lay with Parliament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 107-page report prepared by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey’s National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission has been published on the Assembly’s official website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two of the 17 people detained during house raids in Istanbul were arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u015e\u0131rnak MP Newroz Uysal Aslan filed an official complaint with the parliament\u2019s Human Rights Investigation Commission, calling for an on-site investigation into allegations of torture and mistreatment at the Hatay juvenile facility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at an event held at the \u00c7ankaya Palace, President Erdo\u011fan stated that the Parliamentary Commission had completed its work and that the process had moved to a new stage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can Tuncay, who served as Deputy Chief Prosecutor during Ak\u0131n G\u00fcrlek’s tenure as Chief Prosecutor of Istanbul, has been appointed Deputy Minister of Justice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first hearing after the Constitutional Court\u2019s violation ruling was held in the case against journalist \u0130nan Ketenciler who is on trial for \u201cRecording Audio and Video\u201d after documenting police violence by wardens. The court, complying with the Constitutional Court\u2019s violation ruling, acquitted journalist \u0130nan Ketenciler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 18.02.2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parliamentary Committee on National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy, adopted its final report today with 47 votes in favor, 2 against, and 1 abstention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHP Deputy Group Leader G\u00f6khan G\u00fcnayd\u0131n stated that Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu, the detained Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, had not been allowed to meet with MPs following the change at the Ministry of Justice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Gezi Park protests, the Constitutional Court ruled that there had been a violation of rights in the case of a woman who suffered a broken collarbone due to high-pressure water fired from a water cannon in Taksim. It ruled that an effective investigation had not been conducted, ordered a retrial and awarded 150,000 lira in compensation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government is working to introduce a bill that would criminalize LGBTI+ identities and expressions and restrict gender reassignment therapy, the pro-government daily T\u00fcrkiye Gazetesi reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party I\u011fd\u0131r co-chair Deniz Kaynar was released on condition of house arrest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

G\u00fcrsel Tekin, appointed as trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Directorate, said in a speech in \u015eile, \u2018We will look back and return our party to its factory settings.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 17.02.2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lawyer Ercan Kanar said that Abdullah \u00d6calan should be able to meet freely with politicians, journalists, and foreign visitors, arguing that compliance with a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) would be sufficient to secure his release. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party Bedl\u00ees MP Semra \u00c7a\u011flar G\u00f6kalp requested that a Parliamentary Inquiry be opened to investigate allegations of \u2018neglect, discrimination and irregularities\u2019 regarding the number of works written in Kurdish in the public inventory and the cataloguing and digital access processes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of journalist Erdo\u011fan Alayumat, journalists Tu\u011f\u00e7e Y\u0131lmaz, Suzan Demir, G\u00fclcan Dereli, Kemal Taylan Abatan, translator Serap G\u00fcne\u015f, and sociologist Berfin Atl\u0131 was held in Istanbul. The hearing, which the defendants did not attend, was adjourned to April, as the court decided to wait for the examination of digital materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A court in \u0130zmir has rejected an appeal to release a 16-year-old girl who was formally arrested on Feb 6 over social media posts supporting hair-braiding protests. Her lawyer had applied for the child’s release after she was indicted for “making propaganda for a terrorist organization.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 16.02.2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

YARSAV (Association of Judges and Prosecutors) Founding President \u00d6mer Faruk Emina\u011fao\u011flu filed a lawsuit with the Council of State to overturn Ak\u0131n G\u00fcrlek’s appointment as Minister of Justice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responding to journalists’ questions before the Parliamentary Commission drafting team meeting, MHP Deputy Chair Feti Y\u0131ld\u0131z said, \u201cAlthough the right to hope will not be included as a heading, it will be included in the content based on the ECHR rulings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four defendants released during the trial concerning the harassment of student interns working at the Parliament have been re-arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AKP Deputy Speaker of Parliament Bekir Bozda\u011f argued that a new constitution is needed at a conference on the topic of \u201cNew Constitution,\u201d stating, \u201cThere is agreement on the need for a new constitution.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ak\u0131n G\u00fcrlek, appointed as the new Minister of Justice, met with Numan Kurtulmu\u015f, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SES \u0130zmir Branch No. 1 emphasized that removing hospitals from the \u201chigh-risk\u201d category would reduce oversight and jeopardize worker health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Istanbul Bar Association Vice President Attorney Rukiye Leyla S\u00fcren stated that the biggest obstacles to clarifying suspicious female deaths begin during the investigation process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feti Y\u0131ld\u0131z, a member of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), stated on social media that the Peace and Democratic Society Process is \u2018a matter of state that is not open to debate, cannot be postponed and is irreversible\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ke\u00e7i\u00f6ren Mayor Dr Mesut \u00d6zarslan, who was rumoured to be joining the AKP, announced his resignation from the CHP. \u00d6zarslan claimed that \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel had insulted him as the reason for his resignation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bilal Balc\u0131, the defendant in the \u0130sias Hotel case who was sentenced to 10 years in prison and banned from leaving the country, requested that the ban be lifted on the grounds that he wished to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human rights organisations have spoken out on behalf of 16-year-old A.K., who was arrested for sharing a hair braiding video, stating that \u2018the decision directly threatens the child’s psychological integrity and future.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dismissed Mayor of Adana Metropolitan Municipality, Zeydan Karalar, said regarding the process of reinstating him to his position, \u2018Mayors facing the same charges as me are still in office. Why shouldn’t Zeydan Karalar return to his position?\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At their 1089th vigil, the Saturday Mothers in Istanbul addressed the fate of Mehmet \u015eirin Maltu. The 17-year-old was abducted by the Turkish gendarmerie in \u00calih in 1995. Since then, there has been no trace of him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party MP Ayten Kordu submitted a motion for an inquiry into the 6 February earthquakes, stating that fundamental problems such as housing, the economy, justice and missing citizens remain unresolved in the earthquake zone despite three years having passed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twelve of the 13 suspects detained in an operation targeting ISIS in three provinces centred on K\u0131r\u015fehir have been arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party MPs submitted a report on human rights violations related to police interventions in the Syrian protests to parliament. The report highlighted excessive use of force and arbitrary arrests and detentions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement by E\u011fitim Sen, despite three years having passed since the earthquakes of 6 February 2023, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

container classrooms continue in the earthquake zone, school dropouts are increasing, and teachers are unable to find accommodation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the earthquake report by the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) and the Health and Social Services Workers’ Union (SES), three years after 6 February, housing and health problems persist while psychosocial devastation deepens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AKP Group Chairman Abdullah G\u00fcler, based in Diyarbak\u0131r, met with representatives of mass organisations in the city. The meeting discussed the process and the situation in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forty more people detained in operations targeting the ESP were brought before the court today. Twenty-four of the 40 were arrested. Six people detained in Malatya and Antep were also arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the agreement reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Interim Government of Damascus, the siege continues on its 17th day in Koban\u00ea, where more than 500,000 people live, including refugees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When journalists asked about Devlet Bah\u00e7eli’s statement on the \u201cright to hope\u201d, AKP deputy chairman Mustafa Elita\u015f said, ‘This matter is being assessed by our colleagues on the committee.’ <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forty people, including Co-Chair Murat \u00c7epni, who was detained in operations targeting the ESP, were arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Turkish, Kurdish and English X accounts of the Mezopotamya Agency have been blocked four times by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority in the last month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first hearing in the \u201cboycott call\u201d case, in which 21 defendants \u2014 including actor Cem Yi\u011fit \u00dcz\u00fcmo\u011flu and social media influencers \u2014 are facing up to 7 years and 6 months in prison, could not be held today. The judge stated that he was ill and said the courtroom was physically inadequate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Humanitarion aid collected for Kobane returned to Diyarbak\u0131r five days later after no passage permit was granted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rezan Sar\u0131ca, one of the lawyers from Asr\u0131n Law Office, stated that the right to hope must be implemented for Abdullah \u00d6calan without delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MHP Deputy Chair Feti Y\u0131ld\u0131z stated, \u2018The courts decide on Demirta\u015f’s release. We must comply with the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court.\u2019 Following the meeting, Y\u0131ld\u0131z announced, \u2018We have reached an agreement on the Right to Hope.\u2019  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group proposal submitted by the DEM Party to investigate all the consequences of the 6 February earthquake was rejected by the votes of the AKP-MHP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed a public lawsuit against Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu, Necati \u00d6zkan, H\u00fcseyin G\u00fcn and Merdan Yanarda\u011f on charges of \u2018political espionage\u2019 as part of its investigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Erdo\u011fan emphasised \u2018stability\u2019 for Syria and Gaza during his meeting with President Sisi in Egypt. He signed military and economic agreements during the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fourth hearing in the trial of 9 activists who protested trade with Israel during a speech by President Erdo\u011fan was held in Istanbul. Trial adjourned until June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 03.02.2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the operation conducted against ESP, the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations, the Socialist Women’s Councils, the Limter-\u0130\u015f Trade Union, Polen Ecology, BEKSAV and various other organisations, numerous individuals were detained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During house raids in Istanbul, Etkin Haber Ajans\u0131 (ETHA) reporters P\u0131nar Gay\u0131p, Nadire G\u00fcrb\u00fcz, M\u00fcsl\u00fcm Koyun and Z\u00fcleyha M\u00fcld\u00fcr were detained. All equipment was confiscated during the raid on the agency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five of the 16 youths detained three days ago in Van have been arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Co-Chairs of the DEM Party visited the Future Party Headquarters to discuss the Rojava agenda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new investigation has been launched into journalist \u00d6znur De\u011fer for taking and sharing a photograph of police using violence against a crowd, including journalists, during a march for Rojava in Van on 29 January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking after the cabinet meeting, President Erdo\u011fan targeted the opposition on the issue of Syria, stating, \u2018Whoever attempts to undermine peace will be crushed.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Damascus entered practical implementation today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city of Koban\u00ea, home to 600 thousand people, has been under heavy siege since 20 January. Health officials are concerned that major health problems will arise if medicines are not supplied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police attacked citizens who gathered in Mu\u015f in support of Rojava. Two people were detained in the attack.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applications made to ensure that staff salaries could be paid in companies under receivership were rejected by the court hearing the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u00c7ukurova Teaching Staff Association stated that Y\u00d6K President Erol \u00d6zvar’s plan to shorten the duration of undergraduate degrees and involve businesses in education would undermine scientific rigour, university autonomy and academic freedom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 25 lorries of aid collected for Koban\u00ea have been held up for three days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police assaulted journalists who wanted to cover the Ankara Democratic Institutions Platform’s march on 1 February, World Rojava Solidarity Day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A statement of solidarity with Rojava was made in \u0130stanbul’s Kad\u0131k\u00f6y district. As the crowd dispersed after the statement, six young people were detained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
