“Freedom Rallies” were held in Diyarbak\u0131r and Istanbul demanding the freedom of Abdullah \u00d6calan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sezgin Tanr\u0131kulu, CHP MP for Diyarbak\u0131r and Deputy Chair of the Turkish Grand National Assembly\u2019s Human Rights Investigation Commission, stated that there was no longer any judicial independence in Turkey following his visits to the Alia\u011fa \u015eakran and Buca K\u0131r\u0131klar prisons in \u0130zmir. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has emerged that the bachelor\u2019s degree listed on the CV of Nimet \u00d6zdemir\u2014who joined the AKP after being presented with a badge by President Erdo\u011fan and switched to her third party in her third year in Parliament\u2014is from a university that has not been recognised by any country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muhittin B\u00f6cek, who has made statements of \u2018sincere repentance\u2019 against \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel, Veli A\u011fbaba and Ferdi Zeyrek, has most recently accused Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu of asking him for money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members of the Private Sector Teachers\u2019 Union, who returned to Izmir after ending their hunger strikes in Ankara, emphasised that their resistance was not over and that they would continue their struggle until their rights were secured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 27.06.2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eleven new immunity files relating to 10 MPs, the majority of whom are from the CHP, have been referred to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the legislation expected to be introduced, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmu\u015f said: \u201cThe proposed legislation will not cover everyone. The laws passed will not constitute an amnesty. They will take the form of sentencing regulations.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AKP Spokesperson \u00d6mer \u00c7elik stated that the process had entered a new phase, adding that the relevant legislation must be placed on the Parliament\u2019s agenda and passed into law at the earliest opportunity in order to establish a legal framework. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a motion they tabled, DEM Party MPs called for an investigation into allegations of torture against the Iranian nationals Salah B\u0131mar\u0131 and Resul B\u0131mar\u0131, who were arrested and detained in Hakkari’s \u015eemdinli district. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At their 1,109th weekly vigil, the Saturday Mothers commemorated Ibrahim Kartay. The father of three was detained during a Turkish military raid in Amed in 1994 and has been missing ever since. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In statements made in Istanbul and Ankara regarding prisoners who are ill, attention was drawn to the health problems faced by Mehmet El\u00e7e and Burhan Ads\u0131z, and calls were made for their immediate release. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 26.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Ankara court formally arrested 103 people, including an academic, a journalist, lawyers, environmentalists and students ahead of the NATO summit next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A number of social media accounts, including those of youth and democratic mass organisations, were blocked ahead of the NATO Summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In statements made in many cities within the scope of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, it was stated that torture is being attempted to be normalized under the guise of “security policy”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third hearing in the trial of five police officers \u2014 accused of assaulting and handcuffing lawyer Murat \u00c7elik during the 954th weekly gathering of the Saturday Mothers at Galatasaray Square on July 8, 2023 \u2014 was held in Istanbul. Trial adjourned until October. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 25.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NATO has declined accreditation for several major news outlets and journalists ahead of the alliance\u2019s summit scheduled to take place in Ankara on Jul 7-8.Following criticism, NATO said it took the decisions “based on the host nation’s assesments” and were in contact with Turkish authorities on the issue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the lawsuit brought by Justice Minister Ak\u0131n G\u00fcrlek against CHP leader \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel, a compensation order of 150,000 lira was issued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an official letter sent to Turkey, rapporteurs from the United Nations Human Rights Council requested a comprehensive explanation regarding the administrative and judicial measures taken against Esra I\u015f\u0131k and Halime \u015eaman, who are campaigning for environmental causes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a motion for an inquiry tabled in Parliament by Amed MP Adalet Kaya, a request was made to investigate the connection between the cases of G\u00fclistan Doku and Rojwelat K\u0131zmaz.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RT\u00dcK) has fined Halk TV and Koza TV over their reports on the Batman Special Healing Care Centre in Batman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 24.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the peace process, Erdo\u011fan stated that work is underway on a legal framework, saying, \u201cAfter completing the necessary consultations, we will submit the regulation to Parliament for consideration without unnecessary delay.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LGBTI+ organizations issued a joint statement today condemning the detention of 209 people in police raids in Ankara ahead of the NATO summit scheduled for July 7-8. The detainees include Y\u0131ld\u0131z Tar, the editor-in-chief of Kaos GL, an LGBTI-focused media outlet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a Reuters report, the Trump administration is preparing to approve the sale of engines to be used in Turkey\u2019s domestically produced KAAN fighter jet, despite objections from Congress. The sale, which is expected to exceed $700 million ahead of the NATO Summit, is seen as a significant gesture towards Turkey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the hearing in the HDK case involving journalists Y\u0131ld\u0131z Tar and \u0130brahim Halit El\u00e7i, the court rejected the request to lift the judicial control measures. The hearing was adjourned until 24 November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 23.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Referring to the attacks on HDP buildings following the confessions of \u00d6mer Deniz D\u00fcndar, a member of Daesh, the case\u2019s lawyer, Tugay Bek, said: \u201cHad this case been fully investigated, subsequent massacres could have been prevented. The unlawful restriction order must be lifted to allow the victims to examine the case files.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the investigation targeting Adalar Municipality, Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat and 34 others who had been detained were arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of journalist Furkan Karabay, which was filed following a complaint by Constitutional Court member \u0130rfan Fidan, was held in Ankara. The court ruled to dismiss the case on the grounds that the statutory time limit under the Press Law had expired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu, who was appointed to the CHP following a ruling of absolute nullity, has filed a criminal complaint against journalist \u015eaban Sevin\u00e7, who alleged that he had \u201cinstructed CHP mayors to finance media outlets aligned with us\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selahattin Demirta\u015f said of Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu\u2019s proposal to meet with him: \u201cI have not received any direct information on this matter. Even if I were to receive such a proposal, I would not meet with him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 22.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00d6mer Deniz D\u00fcndar, an ISIS member and defendant in the October 10 Massacre case who was brought to Turkey, stated that ISIS was holding talks with the state in an attempt to reach an agreement at the time of the October 10 Massacre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 12th Judicial Package, drafted by the AKP Group and containing numerous amendments, has been submitted to Parliament. Whilst the provisions at the centre of the debate have been postponed, the package submitted to Parliament did not include any provisions relating to prisons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party MP Newroz Uysal Aslan’s motions for an inquiry and written questions regarding the case brought against members of E\u011fitim Sen, allegations of child abuse, sexual violence, judicial delays and impunity was returned on the grounds that they were \u201crude and hurtful\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ruling party is working to reinstate the Press Advertisement Institution’s (B\u0130K) authority to impose ad bans on press outlets despite a Constitutional Court ruling annulling similar provisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Levent Ko\u00e7, the Mayor of Haymana, who resigned from the CHP, has joined the AKP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tent vigil launched in protest against the geothermal power plant project that \u0130gnis Enerji intends to build in the Varto district of Mu\u015f has reached its 50th day. The villagers have stated that they will continue their protest until the drilling licence is revoked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At their 1,108th weekly protest, the Saturdays Mothers called for the perpetrators of the murder of Murat Aslan, who was killed 32 years ago, to be brought to justice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the suspension of Silivri Mayor Bora Ba\u011fc\u0131o\u011flu, CHP councillor Yal\u00e7\u0131n Ekici was elected deputy mayor in a vote held by the municipal council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Pride march took place in Ankara. After the march had finished, the police detained eight people in side streets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Private Sector Teachers\u2019 Union and the Platform for Teachers Affected by Interview Processes continued their hunger strike, which they had launched to have their demands met, on its sixth day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 19.06.2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ay\u015fe G\u00f6kkan, former spokesperson of Free Women\u2019s Movement (TJA), was sentenced to 19 years and 6 months in prison. The court ruled for her continued detention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justice Minister Ak\u0131n G\u00fcrlek stated that the draft legislation relating to the process would be tabled in Parliament shortly, adding, \u201cGod willing, this law will come into force very soon.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The global petition platform Change.org has been blocked in Turkey following a court decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A report compiled by human rights organisations in Van stated that serious human rights violations had taken place in nine prisons. The report noted that 12 seriously ill detainees were unable to access treatment, and that there were problems regarding hospital referrals and access to publications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police intervened against private-sector teachers and those who had failed their interviews, who were continuing their protests in Ankara; 10 people were taken into custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 18.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 14 immunity files relating to 12 MPs, two of which pertain to CHP Leader \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel, have been submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DEM Party Prison Commission stated that prisoners’ access to healthcare is being blocked and discriminatory practices targeting Kurdish identity are continuing in Black Sea prisons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Peacemaker Teams Iraqi Kurdistan announced that Turkey has taken control of 21 villages in the Sindi and Guli areas of Zakho and is preventing residents from returning to their villages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A decision has been made to extend the detention of ETHA reporter M\u00fcsl\u00fcm Koyun, and the trial has been adjourned until 16 July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

G\u00fcvenlik-Sen announced that its General Secretary, Yusuf K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck, had been dismissed from his job due to his trade union activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 17.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking after the Executive Board meeting chaired by Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu, spokesperson M\u00fcslim Sar\u0131 announced that they had dissolved the provincial executive committees in Bursa, Erzurum and Bitlis, and referred the elected Istanbul Provincial Chair, \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00c7elik, to the disciplinary committee with a request for his expulsion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Media and Law Studies Association (MLSA) has filed an individual application with Turkey\u2019s Constitutional Court, arguing that regulations requiring online broadcasters to obtain licenses from the country\u2019s media regulator violate freedom of expression and freedom of the press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of journalist Timur Soykan over his social media posts regarding operations targeting CHP-run municipalitieswas held in Istanbul. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Supreme Court overturned the ruling of the Regional Court of Appeal, which had annulled the 10-year prison sentence given to police officer S\u00fcleyman Esenbo\u011fa for the killing of Mazlum Turan in K\u0131z\u0131ltepe, on the grounds of “unavoidable error.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deniz Poyraz, who was killed in the attack on the HDP\u2019s \u0130zmir provincial headquarters, was commemorated at her grave on the fifth anniversary of her death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 16.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEVA Party Secretary General Yusuf T\u00fcrkmen, stating that the AKP must not approach the process with an election focus, said: “Whatever legal and constitutional guarantees are needed to remove the obstacles before fundamental rights, they must be put in place immediately.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members of the \u0130mral\u0131 Delegation met with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmu\u015f.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hearing in the case against eight activists, who are on trial over a protest calling for the suspension of trade with Israel during President Erdo\u011fan\u2019s speech at the TRT World Forum, was conducted on the file due to the judge\u2019s leave of absence at the Istanbul 8th Criminal Court of First Instance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 15.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which submitted an application to the Ministry of Justice for the implementation of ECHR rulings, emphasized that for the process to move forward, the implementation of the “right to hope” with regard to Abdullah \u00d6calan is a legal necessity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of four people, including journalist Ceylan \u015eahinli, in connection with a protest organised in memory of Cihan Bilgin and Naz\u0131m Da\u015ftan has been adjourned. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fato\u015f Ay\u0131k, who never appeared before a judge in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality case, remained in custody on the basis of another defendant\u2019s testimony. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AKP spokesperson \u00d6mer \u00c7elik has reacted to the inclusion in the draft text of the European Parliament\u2019s report on Turkey of a proposal to add Justice Minister Ak\u0131n G\u00fcrlek to the European Union\u2019s sanctions list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Appointments to Ankara from the close-knit team of Ak\u0131n G\u00fcrlek\u2014who oversaw extensive operations, notably on 19 March, during his tenure as Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor\u2014have attracted attention. Prosecutors who had been involved in a number of cases, primarily concerning the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, have been \u2018transferred\u2019 to Ankara. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Adana, 25 sick prisoners are being held in prisons, two of whom have been deemed unfit for detention. Aziz Sari, a representative of the Lawyers Association \u00d6HD, stated that the condition of two prisoners is \u2018critical\u2019 and called for \u2018the immediate release of seriously ill prisoners\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Hakkari’s \u015eemdinli district special sergeant Musa Gezer killed his wife G\u00fcl\u015fen Gezer and 3 members of her family, while one person was seriously injured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police in Ankara, who attacked private-sector teachers, detained a large number of people, including Eren Edebali, the president of the Private-Sector Teachers\u2019 Union.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 13.06.2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “Conference on the Democratic Transformation of the Republic in the Second Century,” which will continue for two days in Istanbul, has begun. The conference, held at the call of 29 intellectuals and writers, brought together a large number of figures from many circles, ranging from politics to civil society and the world of culture and art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attention was drawn to the situation of the ill prisoners Sabri Yavuz and Oktay Ko\u00e7ak in Ankara and Istanbul, and it was stated that their continued detention constitutes a clear violation of their rights to health and life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police attacked a march by women in Ankara protesting against the 12th Judicial Reform Package. Four women were beaten and taken into custody. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday Mothers gathered at Galatasaray Square in week 1107 and asked about the fate of Veysel G\u00fcney, who was executed following the 1980 coup and whose body was not returned to his family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Van Bar Association announced that it had submitted an application to the Ministry of Justice to meet Abdullah \u00d6calan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An investigation has been launched into Halk TV reporter Umut Ta\u015ftan, who has been covering the protest by \u00d6z\u015fen Madencilik workers, following an interview he conducted underground with miners on hunger strike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 12.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CoE Committee of Ministers examined the ECHR’s rulings on Demirta\u015f and Kavala at its meeting held between 9-11 June. It reiterated its call for the immediate release of Demirta\u015f, Figen Y\u00fcksekda\u011f and Kavala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali Mahir Ba\u015far\u0131r and G\u00f6khan G\u00fcnayd\u0131n, who were referred to disciplinary proceedings by the Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu administration, have had their deputy parliamentary group chairship titles within the CHP removed by Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Erdo\u011fan spoke about the crisis within the CHP. Erdo\u011fan said, \u201cThe public watches the CHP every day as if it were an action film. It\u2019s not a political party; it\u2019s more like a fight club.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of an investigation launched by the Diyarbak\u0131r Chief Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office, five members of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF) have been detained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to ANHA news agency the border crossing between Mardin’s Nusaybin district and the city of Qami\u015flo in Syria will open next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seventh hearing in the case against journalists Bar\u0131\u015f Pehlivan, Suat Tokta\u015f, K\u00fcr\u015fad O\u011fuz, Seda Selek and Serhan Asker was held in Istanbul. Trial adjourned until November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of the Interior has announced that it has launched an investigation into the matter following statements by P\u0131nar T\u00fcrker, who is on trial in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality case, alleging that she was subjected to a strip search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 11.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kurdish students who were attacked for the second time at Ankara University\u2019s Cebeci Campus by a racist group were trapped inside a lecture hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twenty-eight members have resigned from the CHP Party Council. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fato\u015f P\u0131nar T\u00fcrker, the general manager of the \u0130stanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s media subsidiary Medya A\u015e, said she was subjected to a strip search during her detention. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RT\u00dcK) has imposed administrative fines on SZC TV, Halk TV, ATV, Show TV, Star TV, NOW TV and Kanal D. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final hearing in the trial of Nefes newspaper reporter Nisanur Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m, initiated upon a complaint by Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, was held in Istanbul. Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m was acquitted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A search operation has been launched in the area identified by Umut Alta\u015f, who was arrested in the US following the issuance of a red notice against him in connection with the G\u00fclistan Doku investigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Zelal Ekinci, a \u2018Peace Academician\u2019 who was dismissed from her post at Kocaeli University under a decree-law, has been reinstated after 10 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing attention to the process, Speaker of Parliament Numan Kurtulmu\u015f said, \u201cI hope that the work on this matter will be completed before Parliament goes into recess.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 10.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case file of human rights defender Nimet Tanr\u0131kulu, against whom two rulings of lack of jurisdiction have been issued, has been referred to the Court of Cassation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u00fctf\u00fc Sava\u015f, the former Mayor of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality who filed a lawsuit claiming \u201cabsolute nullity\u201d regarding the CHP Congress, has announced that he has appealed to the Court of Cassation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A ruling of absolute nullity was issued on the Motherland Party\u2019s national congress held on 24 December 2023 on the grounds that forged signatures had been used. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 09.06.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eighty two Nobel Laureates have sent a letter to Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and stressed for the imlementation of the “right to hope” in the context of Abdullah \u00d6calan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the National Security Conferences, President Erdo\u011fan said of the process: \u201cThe \u2018Turkey without Terrorism\u2019 process is more than just a security policy; it is the name of a strategic state vision for our country\u2019s new century.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An \u0130stanbul court acquitted Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporters Esra Solin Dal and Mehmet Aslan of membership in a terrorist organization, while sentencing journalist Erdo\u011fan Alayumat to prison for terrorism propaganda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diyar Ko\u00e7, who was detained under torture during a protest against the attacks on Rojava and subsequently imprisoned before his treatment was completed, was released at his first court hearing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the rejection of his claim for compensation in a case in which he was acquitted, and after being ordered to pay the legal costs, a writ of attachment was served on the home of journalist Aziz Oru\u00e7 by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the CHP headquarters rather than in Parliament due to the backlash, Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu said, \u2018I\u2019m not concerned about my position; I will convene the party congress.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Speaker of Parliament informed the CHP in a letter sent on the grounds of a \u201csecurity risk\u201d that visitors would not be admitted to the group meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Human Rights Association (\u0130HD), noting that Seda Baykan, a prisoner in Diyarbak\u0131r on hunger strike, has lost 12 kilograms, called for her request for a medical transfer to be granted without delay.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
