The Diyarbak\u0131r Governor\u2019s Office announced that four people had been detained in connection with the hanging of posters of deceased PKK members on certain streets in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of an operation targeting the S\u00fcleymanc\u0131lar, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office has also summoned former AKP Interior Minister \u0130dris Naim \u015eahin for questioning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the official programme of celebrations for Victory Day on 30 August, state officials led by President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan visited An\u0131tkabir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement issued by the Human Rights Association (\u0130HD) in \u0130zmir to mark the International Day of the Disappeared, it was stated: \u201cWe will not give up searching for our missing loved ones or our struggle for truth and justice.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Osman Kavala released a written statement on the recent European Court of Human Rights ruling calling for his release as soon as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DEM Party\u2019s Central Executive Board (MYK) convened following the first meeting of the Monitoring and Assessment Board to discuss the latest developments in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEM Party MP Serhat Eren submitted a question to the Grand National Assembly on the condition of prisoner Mehmet Sait Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m, who suffered from a heart attack this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The process of hearing bail applications from the detained defendants in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (\u0130BB) case, which was due to begin next week, has started ahead of schedule. Mustafa Ak\u0131n, Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu\u2019s head of security, and Yener Torunler have applied for bail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four journalists from Ayd\u0131n Denge News were arrested after the newspaper posted on their Facebook a headline titled \u201cErdo\u011fan passed away.\u201d It turns out that the Erdo\u011fan in question was someone named G\u00fcl\u015fen Erdo\u011fan, who shares the same last name as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sergiy Vlasenko, the PACE rapporteur on the European Court of Human Rights, said: \u201cI call on the Turkish authorities to comply fully with the ruling, to ensure the immediate release of Osman Kavala, and to take the necessary steps to implement the other aspects of this important ruling.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdullah \u00d6calan will be part of the Sub-Committee on Disarmament and Strategy. There are also plans to establish a sub-committee comprising a team reporting to him, which will carry out work in Turkey, Europe and the Federal Kurdistan Region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHP Spokesperson M\u00fcslim Sar\u0131 announced that those who have aligned themselves with the YEN\u0130 Party without resigning from the CHP have been provisionally referred to the disciplinary committee with a request for their definitive expulsion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u015eahin Cang\u00fcle\u00e7, the lawyer representing Rojin Kabai\u015f\u2019s family, said they had applied to the Van Chief Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office to have two individuals, whom they consider to be suspects, taken into custody and to have DNA samples taken from them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Independent Mine Workers Union President G\u00f6kay \u00c7ak\u0131r was detained yesterday at the union\u2019s headquarters following arrests at an Ankara protest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European Court of Human Rights holds that T\u00fcrkiye must release Mr Kavala immediately and eliminate the consequences of his conviction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mehmet Sait Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m, a 75-year-old prisoner who has been incarcerated for 31 years and whose release has been postponed for a further three months, has suffered a heart attack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Erdo\u011fan said: \u201cPolitics is practised every day, but there can be no excuse for casting a shadow over the efforts to free Turkey from half a century of hardship.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cihan Ayd\u0131n, Co-Chair of the Human Rights Association (\u0130HD), stated that civil society should be represented on the sub-committees to be established within the Monitoring and Evaluation Board, and added that they were considering setting up a committee in collaboration with other civil society organisations to monitor the process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu leadership of the CHP has withdrawn its appeal in the \u2018absolute nullity\u2019 case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement issued in recent days regarding the attacks on Kurds working as seasonal agricultural labourers in Zonguldak and D\u00fczce, the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) emphasised that the incidents must be investigated in all their aspects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Monitoring and Assessment Board, established following the publication and entry into force of the \u201cLaw on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration\u201d, has convened for the first time, with Vice President Cevdet Y\u0131lmaz leading the meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the racist attack on Kurds in Zonguldak, four suspects were detained by the gendarmerie. They were released in the morning hours after giving statements to the Public Prosecutor at the courthouse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the case of Aziz \u0130hsan Akta\u015f, a verdict was handed down following 59 court hearings involving 200 people, including seven mayors. The charges relating to organised crime were dismissed, but a barrage of sentences was handed down for charges based on statements from anonymous witnesses. In the case, Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet \u00d6zer was sentenced to 8 months and 10 days\u2019 imprisonment and banned from holding public office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. \u0130brahim Kabo\u011flu, head of the \u0130stanbul Bar and a prominent constitutional law scholar, says the Kurdish peace process law is \u201ca discriminatory amnesty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 13.08.2026 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the adoption of the framework law by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey\u2019s General Assembly, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, members of the DEM Party\u2019s Imral\u0131 Delegation, met with President Erdo\u011fan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the latest developments, DEM Party Spokesperson Ay\u015feg\u00fcl Do\u011fan said, \u201cFor the law to be implemented, committees must be established and they must begin their work. These are issues that will become clearer in the coming days.\u201d   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police have detained at least 30 people, including Alihan Kuri\u015f, the leader of the religious order known as S\u00fcleymanc\u0131lar, in an investigation led by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has emerged that prisoners held at Burdur High-Security Prison were poisoned on August 7 and 11. The cause of the poisoning remains unknown, and the prisoners have reportedly not been taken to hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IHD Co-Chair Oya Ersoy, who stated that all civil society organisations should be included in the monitoring committee to be established under the framework law, said, \u201cEven if we are not given a place on the monitoring committees, we will still fulfil the responsibility that falls to us in practice.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a written statement regarding the framework law, MHP chair Devlet Bah\u00e7eli emphasised that the legal processes must be implemented as soon as possible, without allowing any gaps in coordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presidential decrees concerning the lifting of parliamentary immunity for MPs, including \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel have been submitted to the Speaker of Parliament. A total of 63 motions for impeachment have been drawn up against \u00d6zel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu, the detained Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, announced that he had resigned from the CHP after 17 years of membership. \u201cWe are forging a new path,\u201d said \u0130mamo\u011flu, calling on people to join the new party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nuarin, an artist living in Europe who was detained at \u00c7ukurova Airport upon her return to Turkey after 11 years, is to be brought before the public prosecutor\u2019s office tomorrow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interior Minister Mustafa \u00c7ift\u00e7i has called a meeting with the governors, police chiefs and gendarmerie commanders of all 81 provinces. Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmu\u015f will also attend the meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Tayyip Erdo\u011fan met with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmu\u015f. The meeting was held behind closed doors at the Presidential Complex. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the law, which was passed by the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly, AKP Spokesperson \u00d6mer \u00c7elik said, \u201cThe passing of this framework law by 468 votes is also of great significance from a political perspective.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around 80 miners who had travelled to Ankara to demand their wages and leave have been detained for the second time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the 17 people referred to the courts as part of the investigation into Ku\u015fadas\u0131 Municipality, 14 \u2013 including the Director of the Private Office, \u015eebnem Kars \u015eenol \u2013 were remanded in custody, whilst three were placed under judicial supervision. Turkey Today – 10.08.2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first six articles of the draft bill on \u2018Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Cohesion\u2019 have been adopted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu, the detained Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, has expressed his support for \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel\u2019s decision regarding the framework bill debated in Parliament today. In his post, \u0130mamo\u011flu said, \u201cI fully endorse the decision taken by \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel today.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The family of Mehmet \u015eahin Baltan, who was killed in an ambush, criticized the failure to include MOBESE camera footage in the case file for four years and called for justice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three young people who took part in a sit-in protest against the sale and use of drugs at Bat\u0131kent Square in the Yeni\u015fehir district of Diyarbak\u0131r have been arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Konya Chief Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office has launched an investigation into social media posts claiming that a riot broke out at Konya Type E Closed Prison and that there were fatalities; arrest warrants have been issued for eight people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the framework law, Mansur Yava\u015f said, \u201cWhat Turkey needs is not agreements reached behind closed doors, but a broad social consensus established in full view of the people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cLaw on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration\u201d bill submitted to the Parliament\u2019s Justice Committee was approved in its entirety in a vote. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday Mothers gathered at Galatasaray Square in week 1115 and demanded the perpetrators of the murder of S\u00fcleyman Cihan \u2013 who was arrested on 29 July 1981, tortured to death and buried in the unclaimed graves \u2013 to be brought to trial. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement issued this Wednesday regarding the health of Hayrettin Adak, a prisoner with a medical condition being held at the S-Type Closed Prison, the Prison Commission of the IHD\u2019s Izmir Branch called for Adak\u2019s right to access treatment to be guaranteed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A survey carried out by SAMER Research among 800 CHP voters in 17 provinces revealed that the New Party, founded by \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel after he left the CHP, has found significant support amongst the party\u2019s grassroots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parliamentary Justice Commission has begun considering the framework law bill. MHP Deputy Chair Fethi Y\u0131ld\u0131z read out Abdullah \u00d6calan\u2019s 27 February Call for Peace and a Democratic Society. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New (Yeni) Party announced today that 232 mayors, including 28 city mayors, have joined its ranks after resigning from the CHP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An application has been filed with the Department for the Investigation of Unsolved Crimes under the Ministry of Justice to reopen the Musa Anter case. Musa Anter, a Kurdish journalist and writer was murdered by the Gendarmerie Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism (J\u0130TEM) in Diyarbak\u0131r in 1992. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the Digital Media Workshop held in I\u011fd\u0131r, Justice Minister Ak\u0131n G\u00fcrlek signalled new restrictions and legislative measures regarding online journalism. G\u00fcrlek said of online journalism: \u201cIt absolutely must be brought together under a single umbrella.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Istanbul 33rd High Criminal Court, which was reviewing the detention orders in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (\u0130BB) case, ruled that the detention of 53 individuals \u2013 including Mayor Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu \u2013 should continue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a meeting of the National Security Council chaired by President Tayyip Erdo\u011fan, the latest stage reached in the process and the roadmap were assessed in the context of the draft framework bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel, the new party leader, said regarding the draft framework bill: \u201cWe will continue to uphold the stance we have maintained since the past\u2014and which we have not yet abandoned\u2014that this issue should be resolved within Parliament.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Beyo\u011flu District Governor\u2019s Office has extended the suspension of Beyo\u011flu Mayor \u0130nan G\u00fcney, who had been removed from office, for a further two months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The framework draft, titled the \u201cLaw on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration,\u201d has been submitted to the Parliament Speaker\u2019s Office. The Justice Committee will begin discussions on Friday regarding the bill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the framework law, AKP Group Chair Abdullah G\u00fcler said that the bill would be debated in Parliament, adding that \u201cnecessary amendments will be made as needed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested New (Yeni) Party chair \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel and MP Veli A\u011fbaba’s parliamentary immunity be lifted as part of an investigation on allegations of aggravated bribery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the election for acting mayor held following the arrest and suspension from office of \u00dcsk\u00fcdar Mayor Sinem Dedeta\u015f, the CHP\u2019s candidate, Sibel Tan \u00c7etinkaya, was elected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MHP Chair Devlet Bah\u00e7eli has signed the framework law proposal titled \u201cStrengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AKP’s Abdulhamit G\u00fcl and C\u00fcneyt Y\u00fcksel visited the New Party at the Parliament to brief them on the framework bill. Murat Emir, Deputy Group Chairman of the New Party, said after the meeting that they had not seen a concrete draft text. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the closed-door group meeting to be held tomorrow by the AKP Parliamentary Group, a briefing will be given on the draft bill entitled \u2018Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Cohesion\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release of Ayd\u0131n Alt\u0131\u011f, who has been imprisoned for 31 years, has been blocked for a second time for a period of six months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
