The bill prepared as part of the Peace and Democratic Society Process and approved by a majority vote in Parliament\u2019s Justice Committee will be put before the General Assembly tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the framework law, Mansur Yava\u015f said, \u201cWhat Turkey needs is not agreements reached behind closed doors, but a broad social consensus established in full view of the people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The detained politicians Selahattin Demirta\u015f and Sel\u00e7uk M\u0131zrakl\u0131, who issued a joint statement regarding the framework law, thanked Abdullah \u00d6calan, saying, \u201cWe must move this process forward, share our suffering and leave it behind, and walk hand in hand towards the future.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cLaw on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration\u201d bill submitted to the Parliament\u2019s Justice Committee was approved in its entirety in a vote. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday Mothers gathered at Galatasaray Square in week 1115 and demanded the perpetrators of the murder of S\u00fcleyman Cihan \u2013 who was arrested on 29 July 1981, tortured to death and buried in the unclaimed graves \u2013 to be brought to trial. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New (Yeni) Party announced today that 232 mayors, including 28 city mayors, have joined its ranks after resigning from the CHP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An application has been filed with the Department for the Investigation of Unsolved Crimes under the Ministry of Justice to reopen the Musa Anter case. Musa Anter, a Kurdish journalist and writer was murdered by the Gendarmerie Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism (J\u0130TEM) in Diyarbak\u0131r in 1992. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the Digital Media Workshop held in I\u011fd\u0131r, Justice Minister Ak\u0131n G\u00fcrlek signalled new restrictions and legislative measures regarding online journalism. G\u00fcrlek said of online journalism: \u201cIt absolutely must be brought together under a single umbrella.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Istanbul 33rd High Criminal Court, which was reviewing the detention orders in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (\u0130BB) case, ruled that the detention of 53 individuals \u2013 including Mayor Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu \u2013 should continue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a meeting of the National Security Council chaired by President Tayyip Erdo\u011fan, the latest stage reached in the process and the roadmap were assessed in the context of the draft framework bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel, the new party leader, said regarding the draft framework bill: \u201cWe will continue to uphold the stance we have maintained since the past\u2014and which we have not yet abandoned\u2014that this issue should be resolved within Parliament.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Beyo\u011flu District Governor\u2019s Office has extended the suspension of Beyo\u011flu Mayor \u0130nan G\u00fcney, who had been removed from office, for a further two months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The framework draft, titled the \u201cLaw on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration,\u201d has been submitted to the Parliament Speaker\u2019s Office. The Justice Committee will begin discussions on Friday regarding the bill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the framework law, AKP Group Chair Abdullah G\u00fcler said that the bill would be debated in Parliament, adding that \u201cnecessary amendments will be made as needed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested New (Yeni) Party chair \u00d6zg\u00fcr \u00d6zel and MP Veli A\u011fbaba’s parliamentary immunity be lifted as part of an investigation on allegations of aggravated bribery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the election for acting mayor held following the arrest and suspension from office of \u00dcsk\u00fcdar Mayor Sinem Dedeta\u015f, the CHP\u2019s candidate, Sibel Tan \u00c7etinkaya, was elected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkey Today – 04.08.2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MHP Chair Devlet Bah\u00e7eli has signed the framework law proposal titled \u201cStrengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AKP’s Abdulhamit G\u00fcl and C\u00fcneyt Y\u00fcksel visited the New Party at the Parliament to brief them on the framework bill. Murat Emir, Deputy Group Chairman of the New Party, said after the meeting that they had not seen a concrete draft text. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the closed-door group meeting to be held tomorrow by the AKP Parliamentary Group, a briefing will be given on the draft bill entitled \u2018Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Cohesion\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release of Ayd\u0131n Alt\u0131\u011f, who has been imprisoned for 31 years, has been blocked for a second time for a period of six months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Bursa, six CHP district mayors and municipal councillors have resigned and joined the New Party. There are no longer any CHP mayors in the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In yesterday’s meeting with the DEM Party \u0130mral\u0131 Delegation, Abdullah \u00d6calan said: \u201cThe law to be enacted by politics is the key to paving the way for this process. The door to a Democratic Republic is being opened fully.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The draft \u2018framework law\u2019 was opened for signatures by AKP MPs before being submitted to Parliament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prisoner Ayd\u0131n O\u011fuz has not been taken to hospital for 16 days despite his broken foot after refusing to comply with the prison\u2019s \u201coral-cavity search\u201d imposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furkan O\u011flak, who was arrested after being subjected to a racist attack for listening to a song in Kurdish, has been transferred from Kastamonu Type E Prison to Karab\u00fck Type T Prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the announcement that the Justice Ministry would be reopening the investigation into the assassination of journalist U\u011fur Mumcu, his family requested a meeting with Justice Minister Ak\u0131n G\u00fcrlek.
