{"id":1651,"date":"2024-02-25T22:40:23","date_gmt":"2024-02-25T21:40:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eutcc.net\/?p=1651"},"modified":"2024-02-25T22:40:49","modified_gmt":"2024-02-25T21:40:49","slug":"press-release-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/eutcc.net\/?p=1651","title":{"rendered":"Press release"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>24 February 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CPT\u2019s Visit to Turkey<\/strong><br>A delegation of the Council of Europe\u2019s Committee for the Prevention of<br>Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment carried out an<br>ad hoc visit to Turkey from 13 to 22 February 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A special focus was put on the situation of the prisoners held in \u0130mral\u0131 High-<br>Security Prison, including Kurdish Political Leader Abdullah Ocalan. While the<br>delegation met with many authorities, among them Minister of Justice Y\u0131lmaz<br>Tun\u00e7, the island was not visited. In view of the fact that Mr \u00d6calan has been<br>completely cut off from the outside world for three years, such a visit would<br>have been obligatory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Isolation is torture.
