On the 14th anniversary of the Roboskî Massacre, 34 people, 19 of whom were children, were commemorated at their graves, with calls for ‘truth, confrontation and justice’ made during the commemoration. 

Under the protocol signed with the Ministry of Education, the Ensar Foundation, which came under scrutiny after dozens of children were abused, will teach ‘Morality in Forty Lessons’ in Mersin. 

Legal experts stated that the 11th Judicial Package, which excludes political prisoners, failed to meet expectations, asking, ‘Is the package truly the product of a democratic mindset?’ 

The Turkish newspaper, known for its proximity to the government, wrote that a ‘total mobilisation’ would be launched at the instruction of President Erdoğan to explain the reasons for the legal steps to be taken by the AKP in the process.

Bilge Kaan Şarbat, head of the CHP Kadıköy Youth Branch, who was detained during the CHP’s minimum wage protest, has been arrested.

Saturday Mothers gathered at Galatasaray Square in week 1084 and demanded to know the fate of Mehmet Özdemir, who disappeared while in custody in Diyarbakır 28 years ago. 

In actions led by the Human Rights Association to draw attention to the situation of imprisoned patients, the release of Kemal Ertürk and Ayhan Kavak was demanded. 

CHP Chair Özgür Özel said regarding the Imralı debate, ‘Our decision to join the commission, but not visit the island has been well received by the public.’ Özel emphasised that democratisation cannot be addressed separately from the solution.  

Healthcare workers Şeyhmus Dursun, Eyüp Ergen and Abdulaziz Yural, who lost their lives during the curfews in 2015-2016 in Cizre, were commemorated at their graves.

Prisoner Oktay Gul, held at Erzurum Dumlu No. 2 Prison, stated during a weekly phone call that prisoners are being subjected to systematic violence by prison guards. 

On the anniversaries of the Maraş and Roboskî massacres, the İskenderun branch of the Human Rights Association (İHD) called for legal reforms to uncover all massacres and for the establishment of a Truth Commission.

Fifteen of the 22 people detained in the second wave of operations carried out on 23 December against the CHP-affiliated Şile Municipality were requested to be remanded in custody.

Sociologist Berfin Azdal, who was tried as part of an investigation into the Peoples’ Democratic Congress, was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison.

Ercan Yılmaz, head of the Human Rights Association’s Diyarbakır branch, pointed out that the reports submitted by the parties to Parliament were insufficient in addressing the consequences of the Kurdish issue. 

The Constitutional Court reviewed a decision that will affect two cases in which Ekrem İmamoğlu is being tried on charges of ‘insulting a public official’. The Constitutional Court rejected the annulment of the provisions on insulting a public official in the Turkish Penal Code. 

Journalist Barış Terkoğlu, who was detained on the grounds of a video broadcast on television, was released on bail.

Tayfun Kahraman, who was admitted to hospital yesterday after suffering an MS attack, was not given his medication upon arrival at prison because the distribution time had passed.

Three people were detained on charges of ‘making organisation propaganda’ during house raids in Şırnak. It was reported that Hanife Kabul, who does not speak Turkish, was beaten after being forced to speak Turkish. 

Four prisoners standing trial in Antalya on charges of allegedly damaging the wire mesh on the windows were prevented by the judge from presenting their defense in Kurdish.

Pointing to the conflictual developments in the world and the region, Numan Kurtulmuş said, ‘It is clear that Turkey does not have much time left to consolidate its domestic front and establish brotherhood, peace and non-conflict.’

President Tayyip Erdoğan criticised the report submitted to Parliament by the CHP, stating, ‘They have no solutions to offer.’ 

The second hearing of the trial involving 53 individuals, including LGBT+ individuals detained during the 23rd Istanbul Pride March and bianet editor Evrim Gündüz, journalists Nur Kaya and Yusuf Çelik, and photographer Cansu Yıldıran, who were following the protests, was held in Istanbul. Trial adjourned until June. 

The Constitutional Court (AYM) ruled that the decision to record the lawyer visits of 36 political prisoners held at Tokat T-Type Closed Prison, to seize their documents and to have officials present during the visits violated their right to respect for private life, and ordered compensation to be paid.

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç shared that during the meeting with the DEM Party Imralı Delegation, they discussed the process and the roadmap that the commission would prepare, adding that they also discussed the steps to be taken. 

Members of the DEM Party Imrali Delegation, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, met with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. 

The Parliamentary Commission, whose term expires at the end of this month, will meet on 24 December to discuss extending its term. 

Parliamentary Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş met with committee members from parties without a parliamentary group. 

As New Year’s Eve approaches, the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command reportedly has issued an internal communication warning its personnel and related units about potential ISIS attacks. 

The article to be discussed in Parliament, which would have provided a way out for those responsible for the deaths of citizens in the earthquake, was removed from the 11th Judicial Package.

The 12th hearing in the trial of journalist Deniz Yücel on charges of “publicly insulting the Turkish nation and the Republic of Turkey” and “insulting the President,” was held in Istanbul. The newly appointed judge decided to wait for the execution of the arrest warrant issued against Yücel. Trial adjourned until October. 

Yesterday, Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan, Defence Minister Güler and intelligence chief Kalın has travelled to Damascus for talks with their Syrian counterparts. Topics include security, reconstruction and the implementation of the 10 March agreement with the SDF.

With its 38 restricted settlements, Hakkari’s Çukurca district has become the center of “securitized” policies. 

Following allegations of harassment against female interns at the Grand National Assembly restaurant, an investigation has been launched into allegations of harassment against a senior Assembly employee who held high-level positions during Mustafa Şentop’s term. 

CHP, DEM Party and TİP MPs joined the protest held in front of the Parliament by families who lost loved ones in the 6 February earthquakes, demanding that earthquake defendants be excluded from the 11th Judicial Package.  

Stating that the spirit of the times was not reflected in the government’s 2026 budget, DEM Party Deputy Group Chair Sezai Temelli said that an additional budget should be allocated for peace, adding, ‘We had to start with democratic budgets for a democratic constitution.’

Defence Minister Yaşar Güler threatened an “attack”, stating that the Syrian Democratic Forces should be integrated into the Syrian army “not as a unit, but individually”. 

The DEM Party municipalities published the ‘Declaration Towards Amed Women’s Cities’. It aims to rebuild the city with women’s minds, women’s labour, women’s memory and women’s insistence on peace. 

The DEM Party Imralı Delegation visited the AKP in Parliament as part of the meetings they held with political parties within the scope of the process. 

Just hours before Koma Amed’s concert in Istanbul, it was banned by the Küçükçekmece District Governor’s Office. 

Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak stated that an investigation would be launched into Bursaspor fans who made racist and sexist chants directed at Kurdish politician Leyla Zana, and that various sanctions, including bans from matches, would be imposed. 

Lawyers of Fatoş Pınar Türker, who is detained in connection with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality case, have appealed to the Constitutional Court regarding her being subjected to forced strip search.  

Saturday Mothers gathered at Galatasaray Square in week 1078 and demanded to know the fate of Nihat Aydoğan, who disappeared in custody 31 years ago.

The AKP has submitted its report, prepared as part of the process, to Parliament. 

DEM Party Ağrı MP Sırrı Sakık stated that 499 out of 600 MPs receive double salaries.

Mehmet Murat Çalık, the Mayor of Beylikdüzü, who is currently in custody, was taken to hospital due to a mass detected in his throat. Çalık, who has previously beaten cancer twice, underwent another biopsy. 

Nine months after the Saraçhane protests, university students gathered in Beyazıt and marched in support of their detained friends. Following the statement, 26 students were taken into custody amid a police cordon. 

Cihan Berk, a reporter for PİRHA, who was detained in Dêrsim in the early hours of the morning, has been arrested. 

Following the public disclosure of the injustices suffered by seriously ill prisoner Cemil İvrendi, who was being held at Kırşehir S Type Closed Prison in recent months, the prison administration launched a disciplinary investigation against him. İvrendi was punished with solitary confinement and communication restrictions.

Footage has emerged showing the moment prisoner Ömer Cuma Salıh was tortured by guards. The footage shows bruises and swelling on Salıh’s face after the incident. An expert witness reported that Salıh had been subjected to ‘ill-treatment’. 

The second hearing of the trial against human rights defender Nurcan Kaya, who is charged with “membership in a terrorist organization”, was held in Istanbul. The court ruled that the travel ban would be evaluated along with the final judgment. Trial adjourned until February. 

Speaking on a television channel, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan argued that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) must comply with the 10 March agreement between the Syrian Transitional Government and the SDF. 

MHP Chair Devlet Bahçeli emphasised that the rally calling for the release of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan was an expression of freedom of speech. 

The struggle waged by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality workers for 10 days against additional payments and the ‘pool’ system has ended in victory.

The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, held a meeting with the group coordinators of the political parties represented on the process committee. The meeting discussed the creation of a joint final text. 

Human rights lawyer Suna Bilgin was sentenced to six years and three months in prison on charges of ‘being a member of an organisation’.

DEM Party member Celal Fırat reacted by stating that the 174 billion lira budget allocated to the Presidency of Religious Affairs was more than the share allocated to five ministries and 128 universities.

In the case of the collapse of Yaşam Konutları in the 6 February earthquakes in Antep, which resulted in the loss of 40 lives, the court sentenced AKP contractor Yunus Kaya to 12 years in prison for ‘causing death and injury through deliberate negligence’. 

Bandırma Mayor Dursun Mirza stated that the free soup service provided to students at Bandırma On Yedi Eylül University for months had been terminated following the intervention of former AKP MP Cemal Öztaylan.

Twelve people were detained as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on allegations of ‘being a member of an organisation’. 

In a statement made in front of Bakırköy Women’s Closed Prison the Human Rights Association (İHD) and the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (TİHV) called for the immediate release of IHD member Suna Bilgin. 

The first hearing was held in Istanbul in the case against journalists who participated in a planned public statement to commemorate journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, who were killed in Syria. The judicial control measures against five journalists have been lifted. Trial adjourned until May. 

The DEM Party Imralı Delegation met with Ahmet Davutoğlu, Chair of the Future Party. 

Following its presentation to Erdoğan, the 65-page report comprising 11 chapters prepared by the AKP on the process is expected to be submitted to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey has issued a new statement regarding the harassment at the Assembly restaurant. While allegations that a girl became pregnant as a result of abuse were denied, the 2018 harassment case was described as “irrelevant”.

The Mersin branch of the Human Rights Association (İHD) has called for an independent and effective investigation into the death of Poyraz, a transgender prisoner who died in Sincan Prison, stating that the claim that it was a suicide is unacceptable. 

DEM Party MP Çiçek Otlu called for an effective investigation, stating that the case file concerning Rojin Kabaiş’s death had been closed confidentially and that DNA belonging to two men had been found on her body. 

Saadet Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan said on a television programme that they could join the People’s Alliance if the conditions were right. 

Following the Cabinet Meeting, President Tayyip Erdoğan of the AKP emphasised unity and brotherhood, stating that they would not tolerate divisive rhetoric.

Erol Köçer, a member of the lawyers association ÖHD, stated that the human rights violations occurring in prisons were contrary to the spirit of the process, saying, ‘Prisons are a test of the sincerity of the process.’ 

In Hakkari, where numerous villages are off-limits, citizens can only visit their villages once a year. Responding to the situation, citizens asked, ‘The PKK has withdrawn, so your justification is gone. Why are our villages still off-limits?’ 

It has been reported that Ishak Dayan, who has been held in a cell for months at Burdur High Security Prison, was threatened by guards who said, “If you don’t say ‘How happy I am to be Turkish,’ we’ll kill you.”

The Ministry of the Interior announced that the person who called Sözcü newspaper’s Ankara correspondent Saygı Öztürk saying ‘This is Green Code Mahmut Yıldırım’ had called from prison and was identified as a convicted murderer. 

Journalist Osman Çaklı, who had been detained, was released with a travel ban and judicial supervision.

Following the resignation of Furkan Torlak, whose name appeared in a news report related to the investigation in which journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy was arrested, from his position as Coordinator of the Centre for Combating Disinformation, Deniz Demir was appointed to replace him.

President Erdoğan’s Chief Adviser Mehmet Uçum statet that the process was a ‘state initiative and state policy,’ saying, ‘The state did not treat this as a Kurdish issue. It was treated entirely as a matter of effectively eliminating the terrorist organisation.’

Saturday Mothers gathered at Galatasaray Square in week 1081 and demanded justice for İbrahim Demir and Agit Akipa, who were detained in 1991 and later tortured to death. 

Van Bar Association President Sinan Özaraz announced that they had approached a private university regarding the Rojin Kabaiş case and requested that they prepare an alternative report.

The DEM Party has completed the second day of its four-pronged march, launched with the demand for a ‘Budget for Bread and Peace’ during the parliamentary debate on the 2026 Central Budget Law. 

Speaking at the ‘Peace and Democracy Workshop for Health’ organised by the Turkish Medical Association (TTB), Central Council Member Önder Okay stated that democratic channels within society must be opened for the state of non-conflict to evolve into peace.

The DEM Party Imralı Delegation first met with DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan, then with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. 

A motion was submitted to Parliament to lift the immunity of CHP General Chairman Özgür Özel and six MPs. 

Berivan Barin from the ÖHD stated that the release of 13 prisoners in Bolu Prison, most of whom have been for over 30 years, has been blocked. 

Burak Büyükkaya, a prisoner at Dumlu Prison No. 2, described the violations there, stating that a letter sent to him had been censored. ‘Only the line “take care of yourself, mate” remained on the page; the rest had been blacked out. Of course, this isn’t the first time,’ he said. 

Four people have been detained as part of an investigation into the sexual abuse of secondary school students working in Parliament.

President Erdoğan and Russian President Putin, who met at the International Peace and Security Forum in Ashgabat, discussed diplomatic steps regarding the war in Ukraine and regional developments. 

New rectors have been appointed to nine universities by decree of President Erdoğan. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Görmez, former President of the Directorate of Religious Affairs, has been appointed to the International University of Islam, Science and Technology in Turkey.

The allegation that Mahmut Yıldırım, codenamed ‘Yeşil’, called Sözcü newspaper columnist Saygı Öztürk for a meeting was brought to the agenda of the Parliament. DEM Party Ağrı MP Sırrı Sakık questioned the Ministry of the Interior about the allegations in the news report. 

The 12th hearing of the case against 26 people, who are being prosecuted for allegedly violating the Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations for participating in a commemoration event for the Amasra mine disaster was held in Ankara. The defendants were sentenced to five months in prison, and judicial fines were imposed on some of them. 

The Bakıröy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has appealed against the statute of limitations ruling in the ‘Operation Life Return’ case, which resulted in the killing of 12 prisoners, on the grounds that it violates the law. 

Sofya Alağaş, whose father Hacı Alağaş suffered a heart attack in prison and was taken to hospital, has appealed to the public for sensitivity after stating that he was kept in the intensive care unit for a week with his hands and feet shackled to the bed. 

The Administrative Court suspended the implementation of the decision by the Siirt Municipality, under the administration of a trustee, to open Newala Qesaba, where mass graves are located, for development. 

One person has been arrested in connection with the scandal involving the harassment of female interns working at the Turkish Grand National Assembly restaurant by Assembly staff. 

Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the detained Editor-in-Chief of Habertürk TV, has been charged with ‘possessing and supplying narcotics’ as well as ‘establishing and managing an organisation’.

Members of the Eskişehir Kurdish Community protested the Odunpazarı District National Education Directorate’s blocking of the Kurdish language course they had started last Sunday for university students on the grounds that it was an ‘unauthorised educational activity’. 

The DEM Party, CHP and EMEP submitted their reports prepared within the scope of the commission’s work to Parliament.

The General Secretariat of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) has launched an administrative investigation into allegations of abuse involving high school student interns working at the parliament restaurant. Parliamentary staff is accused of “systematic abuse” allegedly ongoing for several years.

Students who set up a stall for a university-approved event at Kocaeli University were confronted by the security officer; one student complained that he had been assaulted in the security office.

The first hearing was held in Istanbul in the case against journalist Erdoğan Alayumat, Tuğçe Yılmaz, Suzan Demir, Gülcan Dereli, Kemal Taylan Abatan, translator Serap Güneş, and sociologist Berfin Atlı. They are accused of “aiding a terrorist organization” over payments received for their reporting.

The Antalya branch of ÖHD called on the Ministry of Justice and Parliament to conduct an independent and effective investigation into the torture and human rights violations suffered by political prisoners in Burdur Prison. 

The prosecutor’s appeal against the release of journalist Furkan Karabay, who had been detained for 201 days, was rejected; thus, the decision to release Karabay became final. 

Folk music artist Pınar Aydınlar has been sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison on the charge of “membership in a terrorist organization.”

The protest by 233 workers dismissed by Ozan Balcı, the trustee appointed to Van Metropolitan Municipality, has been ongoing for 133 days.

An application has been made for the reinstatement of Bahçesaray Deputy Mayor Ayvaz Hazır, who was acquitted in the case that served as grounds for his replacement by a trustee.

In the case of the murder of two police officers in Ceylanpınar, which was used as justification for ending the 2013-2015 peace process, the fingerprint of police officer Burak Kuru, who was claimed not to have been present at the house where the incident took place, was added to the case file. 

Stating that the work carried out as part of the process is not solely the responsibility of the Parliamentary Commission, but that all state institutions are performing their duties under high-level coordination, Parliamentary Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş said, ‘This is a state project.’ 

The Presidency’s Directorate of Communications yesterday dismissed reports alleging that President Erdoğan was planning a meeting with Mazlum Abdi, the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Seven prisoners at Kalkandere L-Type Closed Prison were given disciplinary punishment for using the words ‘Mahabad’ and ‘Kurdistan’ in a quiz they organised. 

An investigation has also been launched into the audio recordings obtained in the “diploma case” heard today involving Ekrem İmamoğlu.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said at the 23rd Doha Forum that Abdullah Öcalan could have an impact on reaching an agreement in Syria. 

Mithat Sancar, a member of the Imrali Delegation, emphasised that for peace to be lasting, weapons must be laid down not only in hand but also in mind, stating, ‘An approach that constantly highlights impossibilities is dangerous.’ 

In an article he wrote, Presidential Chief Adviser Mehmet Uçum stated, ‘There can be no democratic demands under the shadow of weapons. Social integration cannot be achieved with language that undermines national unity.’ 

The Antep Tax Office seized the scholarship of Mehmet Bozan Karayılan’s daughter, a university student, on the grounds that he had unpaid meal debts after his release from Adana Kürkçüler F-Type Prison. 

Reporters covering the story of a police officer who committed suicide in Adıyaman were subjected to verbal and physical intervention by a group of police officers.

AP Turkey rapporteur Sanchez Amor visited CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, businessman Osman Kavala and MP Can Atalay in Silivri Prison, and Selahattin Demirtaş in Edirne Prison.

The Denizli branch of the Education Union reacted to the propaganda-filled events planned by the Ministry of Education, stating: ‘Educational institutions cannot be turned into the backyard of any political party, community or ideological structure.’ 

Saturday Mothers gathered at Galatasaray Square in week 1080 and inquired about the fate of Hüseyin Taşkaya, who was detained 32 years ago in the Siverek district of Urfa and has not been heard from since.

MHP Deputy Chairman Fethi Yıldız, who is a member of the Parliamentary Commission, said of the process, ‘It is a matter of state that cannot be postponed.’ 

The new Central Executive Board of the CHP has been announced. Zeynel Emre has been appointed as the party spokesperson.

DEM Party Van MP Gülderen Varlı brought to the Parliament’s attention a case in which a 10-year-old child was sexually abused and the perpetrator was sentenced to 13 years and 9 months in prison but was not detained. 

Van Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Neslihan Şedal was acquitted in the trial in which she was prosecuted for protests against the appointment of a trustee. 

The Court of Appeal overturned the case that served as grounds for appointing an administrator in place of Bahçesaray Deputy Mayor Ayvaz Hazır and acquitted Hazır.

The case concerning the cancellation of the CHP’s 38th Ordinary and 21st Extraordinary Congresses has been referred to the Court of Appeal by the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance.

DEM Party Members of the parliamentary commission stated that the content of the meeting with Abdullah Öcalan had been taken out of context and called for the full minutes of the meeting to be shared with the public.

Parliamentary Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş stated that the details of the meeting with Abdullah Öcalan would be shared with the commission, saying, ‘What is important is that the main points of what was discussed there are shared with the commission.’ 

The second hearing in the trial against journalist Elif Akgül, who is charged with “membership in a terrorist organization,” was held in Istanbul. Trial adjourned until January. 

CHP Chair Özgür Özel made statements regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality investigation. Criticising the decision to release 19 individuals not named in the indictment, Özel said, ‘It is shameful that these people have been detained for months.’

The decision to continue the detention of Mehmet Sıddık Akış, Co-Mayor of Hakkari Municipality, who was replaced by a trustee after his arrest, was protested. DEM Party MP Onur Düşünmez said the coup was continuing.  

Devlet Bahçeli reiterated that there would be no backing down, once again using the phrase ‘Terror-Free Turkey’ in reference to the process. 

Sixteen of the 17 Turkish Workers’ Party (TİP) youths protesting child deaths at Vocational Training Centres (MESEM) were arrested by the Bakırköy Magistrates’ Court. 

Journalist Diren Yurtsever’s X account has been blocked by order of the Van 2nd Criminal Court of Peace, citing his news reports about Rojin Kabaiş, who died under suspicious circumstances in Van.

Members of the DEM Party Imrali delegation met with Abdullah Öcalan. 

Speaking ahead of the hearing to be held following the overturning of the sentence handed down to Mehmet Siddik Akis, the co-mayor of Colemêrg who was arrested and replaced by a kayyum, his lawyer Azad Özer stated that Akis should be released and reinstated to his position. 

Dilaver Karasu, who was transferred from Erzurum Prison to Ahlat Prison for the trial, will be held in a cell here until the trial, which will be held three months later, despite her request to be returned. 

The first hearing in the trial of journalist Furkan Karabay was held in Istanbul. The court ruled to release Karabay. The prosecution appealed the release decision.

The first hearing in the trial of journalist Tuğçe Yılmaz was held in Istanbul. The judge accepted the prosecutor’s request and ordered the file to be submitted to the prosecution. Trial adjourned until April.
